விபத்தில் ரசிகர் மரணம்: ரஜினி அனுதாபம்!

சென்னை: மதுரையில் ரசிகர் கார்த்திக் விபத்தில் மரணமடைந்த செய்தி அறிந்து அதிர்ச்சியும் வேதனையும் வெளியிட்டுள்ளார் ரஜினி. விரைவில் அவரது குடும்பத்தினரை நேரில் சந்திப்பதாகவும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
சமீபத்தில் நடந்த மத்திய அமைச்சர் முக அழகிரி மகன் திருமணத்துக்காக மதுரை சென்றிருந்தார் சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் ரஜினி. அப்போது அவரது காரைப் பின் தொடர்ந்து ரசிகர்கள் வந்த டாடா சுமோ வாகனம், டிரைவரின் அலட்சியத்தால் விபத்துக்குள்ளானது. இதில் கார்த்திக் என்ற ரசிகர் மரணம் அடைந்தார்.
இந்தச் செய்தி அறிந்து அனுதாபம் தெரிவித்து அறிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளார் ரஜினி. அறிக்கையில் அவர் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:
மதுரை தெற்குவாசல் 45-வது வார்டு ரஜினி மன்ற துணைத்தலைவர் ஆர்.எம்.கார்த்திக்கின் அகால மரண செய்தியை கேட்டு மிகுந்த அதிர்ச்சியும், துக்கமும் அடைந்தேன். அவருடைய இழப்பு ஈடு செய்ய முடியாதது.
அவரைப் பிரிந்து வாடும் குடும்பத்தினருக்கும், நண்பர்களுக்கும், மன்ற நிர்வாகிகளுக்கும் என் ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கலையும், வருத்தத்தையும் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன். விரைவில் அவரது குடும்பத்தினரை நேரில் சந்தித்து ஆறுதல் கூறுவேன்.

We all know that a little snip and cut can transform one’s image, indeed choosing the right hairstyle for one’s face is an art in itself. And who would know this better than Kannaa, a city-based hairstylist, who is the man behind the hairstyles of K’town stars like Suriya, Dhanush, Jayam Ravi and other VIPs in the city. However, Kannaa’s list of clients also includes one person who trusts him completely when it comes to his tresses — Superstar Rajinikanth. Apparently, the actor relies on this stylist’s expertise after he gave him a new look in Sivaji. “I was working at a salon in a five star hotel where Rajinikanth was a regular customer,” recalls Kannaa. “He is a down-to-earth person and every time he comes for a haircut he always makes it a point to enquire about my family, work, etc. At one point, he began calling me to his Poes Garden residence or if he is really hard-pressed for time, he would even summon me to the shooting spot,” recalls Kannaa.
The hairstylist says that he was surprised when one day he received a call from the Superstar asking him to come to his house immediately. “I didn’t have a clue about what was so urgent. When I reached his house, Rajini and his make-up artiste Banu were there and he asked me if I could create a wig for his look in Sivaji. At that moment, I was shocked. Mr Shankar had even sent a photo for reference, this was of a 30-year-old man and the Superstar asked me if I could give him a similar look. I took up the challenge since I was quite familiar with Mr Rajini’s style. I worked for 45 minutes and I came up with a style which the actor sported in the movie Dharmatthin Thalaivan several years ago. He was impressed and rewarded me well for my work. That was my first step into tinsel town,” explains the soft-spoken stylist. Later, Kannaa also styled the famous ‘mottai’ look in Sivaji.
For his recent film Enthiran, even though Rajinikanth had stylists from Bollywood working on his look, the actor insisted that Kannaa should be a part of the important scenes in the film. The young hairstylist feels he’s really lucky as he’s had the privilege of sharing screen space with his client. “There’s a scene where Rajini the robot wants to look different from Rajini, the scientist and there’s a part where his hairstyle is changed in a matter of seconds. I was the one working on the hair. I didn’t even know it was being shot,” he smiles. Kannaa has also worked on films starring his other clients like Dhanush, Suriya and Jayam Ravi.
Kannaa has no hesitation in labeling Rajinikanth as the most stylish actor in the country. Recently, when the actor was at his beauty salon for its second anniversary, Kannaa recalls a heartwarming incident, “No star would be open about their beauty secrets like the hair colour they use or the face pack they apply, but Mr Rajini is an exception. When I was colouring his hair recently, he asked me if I wanted to take some pictures and shoot a video with him at the salon. He even posed in front of the camera for a few hours. Indeed, it is a great gesture on his part,” says Kannaa.

ஹலோ…. ஆங்…. 4 மணிக்கு கரெக்டா ஃப்ளைட் லேண்டிங் ஆயிடும், ஹாங்…திருச்சியிலதான்.
ஆமா….. எல்லாம் முடிஞ்சு ஒரு மணி நேரத்துல வெளிய வந்திருவேன். என்னது, ஆமாம்…. துபாய்ல 12 மணிக்குகிளம்பும்… கரெக்ட்டைம்தான். வேலு அவசியத்துக்கு அதிகமாக கொஞ்சம் உரக்கத்தான் கைபேசியில் பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
ஃப்ளைட் டிக்கட் புக்செய்து விட்டு, அந்த ரிசப்ஷனில் இருந்து வீட்டுக்கு டெலிபோன் செய்தான். குரலில் உற்சாகம் ப்ளஸ் லேசான பதட்டம் இருந்தது. இருக்காதாபின்னே, மூன்று வருடங்களுக்கு பின் தாய்நாடு செல்வதும், குடும்பத்தை பார்ப்பதும், சாதாரணமான விஷயம் இல்லையே (குறைந்தபட்சம் அவனளவில்.....)...

கொள்கை வெல்வதே நான் கொண்ட லட்சியம்....
திரைப்பாடல் வரி அவன் மனதில் சுழன்றோடியது. அடேயப்பா எத்தனை வலிவு மிக்க வார்த்தைகள். பிரச்சனை என வந்து துவண்டு இருந்த போது, டிவியில் ரஜினியின் முகமும் இந்த பாடலும் பார்த்த போது மனதில் ஒட்டி கொண்டது.
எத்தனை உடல் மன கஷ்டம் வரும் போதும், இந்த பாடல் வரிகளை நினைவு படுத்தி மனதிற்குள் பாடினால்…. புது உத்வேகம் வந்து விடுமே. சினிமாவுக்குத்தான் எத்தனை பெரிய சக்தி. தேங்க்ஸ் தலைவா... என்னை போன்ற எத்தனையோ பேருக்கு இப்படி முன்னுதாரணமாய் நீ இருக்கிறாய். கண்கள் லேசாய் கலங்கியது, அதில் சோகம் இல்லை, பெருமிதமே, அன்பு கலந்த பெருமிதம்.
அப்பா…என்ன ஒரு சுமை இந்த மூன்று ஆண்டுகளில். என்னவெல்லாம் நடந்துவிட்டது. பெரிய கனவுகளுடன் அந்நிய மண்ணில் வந்து இறங்கிய அந்தநாளும், ஏஜெண்டால்தான் ஏமாற்றப்பட்டதை உணர்ந்த அந்தபொழுதும், எப்படிவலித்தது.
பின் அந்த ஏமாற்றங்களை மெல்ல மெல்ல மென்று முழுங்கி, ஊருக்கும் உறவுக்கும் கொஞ்சம் மட்டுமே சொல்லி, எல்லா வேதனையையும் தானேதாங்கிக் கொண்டதும், ஹூம்… எல்லாம் நல்லதாய் நடந்து முடிந்துவிட்டது..
இருக்க இடமும் பசிக்கு உணவில்லாமலும் துபாய் வெயிலில் தனியாளாய் நின்ற போது, வாழ்க்கை எவ்வளவு கடினம் என புரிந்தது. அதே நேரத்தில் முன் பின் அறிமுகம் இல்லாத, நண்பனோ உறவோ இல்லாத பஷீர் அண்ணன் வந்து சாப்பாடு வாங்கிக் கொடுத்து, அவர் ரூமிலேயே தங்கவும் வைத்து, ஒரு வேலையையும் ஒரு வாரத்தில் ஏற்பாடு செய்து கொடுத்து, என் வாழ்வை திசை அல்லவா திருப்பி விட்டார்.
என்றாலும் இந்த மூன்று வருடத்தில் உலகம் என்ன வென்றுபுரிந்தது. யார் நண்பன், பசி என்றால் என்ன, உழைத்தும் காசு கிடைக்காததின் ஏமாற்றம் என்ன, சம்பளத்தின் விலை என்ன, சுயகட்டுப்பாடு என்றால் என்ன என எல்லாம் புரிந்தது.
இன்ப துன்பம் என்பது, இரவு பகலை போன்றது
காலம் நாளை மாறலாம், காட்சி எல்லாம் மாறலாம்
சோகம் என்ன தோழனே, சூழ்ச்சி வெல்வாய் வீரனே
எதிர்த்து நின்று போரிடு இன்று ஓய்வெடு
தோளைக் குறுக்கி, பேண்ட் பாக்கெட்டில் கை நுழைத்து, ரஜினி புகை மண்டலங்களோடு பாடி கொண்டிருந்தார்…. வேலுவின் மனத்திரையில். ரஜினியை வேலுவுக்கு ரொம்ப பிடிக்கும். வெற்றி பெற துடிக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு சராசரியின் மனதிலும் விசுவரூபமாய் எழுந்து நிற்கும் உருவம். முடியும் சாதிக்க முடியும், நேர்மையாய் நம்பிக்கையுடன் முயற்சி செய். உன் வாழ்க்கை உன் கையில் என மறுபடி மறுபடி சொல்லும் உருவம்.
பாடல் கேட்கும் நேரத்திலே, உடல் புல்லரிக்கும், புது ரத்தம் பாயும். கண்கள் கலங்கும் என்றாலும் தன்னம்பிக்கை நிமிர்ந்து நிற்கும். தேங்க்ஸ் தலைவா, தேங்க்ஸ்..
டேய்வேலு…வாடா!!!! சம்பாதிச்சு சம்பாதிச்சு என்னத்த கண்டோம். மாசத்திலஒரு நாளு லீவுல தியேட்டர் போயி, ஒரு சினிமா கூட பார்க்கலேன்னா எப்படி. என அழைத்த நண்பனை மெல்லமாய் விலக்கி விட்டு, வேலை இருக்குது, இன்னிக்கு ஓவர்டைம் கமிட் பண்ணிக்கிட்டேன், நீ போயிட்டுவா, என அனுப்பிவிட்டு, வேலைக்கு செல்வான் வேலு. ஒவர் டைமின் உபரி காசும், பொழுதுபோக்கில் செல்வழிக்காத காசு எனவும் இரட்டை சம்பாத்தியம் என மனம் கணக்கு கூட்டும்.
ஆள் இல்லாத சாலையில் ஒருமையில் குப்பை பொறுக்குகிறபோது, அழுகை வரத்தான் செய்தது. விரைந்து செல்லும் கார்களில், சில இந்திய முகங்கள் தெரிய, அவர்களின் முகத்தில் விடுமுறை கொண்டாடும் உத்வேகம் பார்க்கும் போதும், இவங்களுக்கெல்லாம் லீவு இருக்கே, எனக்குமட்டும் ஏன் இல்லை.
ஏன் என் தலையெழுத்துமட்டும் இப்படிஆயிப்போச்சு, என சிந்தித்த போது, துபாய் சூட்டையும் மீறி உள்ளம் கொதிக்கத்தானே செய்தது. இப்படி அயல்நாடு வந்து கஷ்டப்பட்டால்தானே, வீட்டில் இருக்கும் மற்ற ஜீவன்கள், கொஞ்சமாவது சுகப்பட முடியும் என்று நினைத்து, வெளி வந்த கண்ணீரை துடைக்கவும் இல்லாது, காற்றுக்கு அனுமதி தந்து அந்த அழுகையிலே கரைந்தேனே...
இருக்கும் ஒரே நிலத்தையும் விலைக்கு விற்றுவிட்டு, முள்ளங்கி பத்தை மாதிரி 2 லட்சம் ரூபாயை ஏஜெண்ட் கையில் கொடுத்தபோது, அந்த ஏஜெண்டின் சிரிப்பில் இருந்த கள்ளம் எப்படி நமக்கு தெரியாமல் போனது,. அந்த சிரிப்புக்கு பின்னால் ஒளிந்திருந்த கபட நாடகம் எப்படி தெரியாமல் போனது.
வெளிநாட்டுவேலை, போய்ரெண்டு, மூணு வருஷம் நாம மட்டும் கஷ்டப்பட்டா, நம்ம வீட்டுல இருக்கற மத்தவங்க கஷ்டம் எல்லாம் முடிந்துவிடுமே என்ற எண்ணம் மட்டுந்தானே இருந்தது.
அம்மா மட்டும் அழுது கொண்டிருந்தாள், சேலைத் தலைப்பை கையில் அடக்கி தன் கண்ணீரை துடைத்து, பொங்கி வரும் அழுகையை அடக்கவும் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தாள். தன் தாய்வீட்டுசீதனம்எனயோசித்ததாலோஎன்னவோ, பரம்பரை சொத்து கை விட்டு போகிறதே என்ற எண்ணமோஅம்மாகண்ணில்இருந்துவந்தகண்ணீர்மட்டும்நிற்கவே இல்லை.... ரிஜிஸ்டர்ஆபிசின்அந்தமாடிப்படிக்குகீழேஅவளிடம்சொன்னவ ார்த்தைஇன்றும்காதில்ஒலித்துகொண்டேஇருக்கிறது.
’விசனப்படாதீங்கம்மா, எப்படியும் நம்மகையவிட்டு போன இதே நிலத்தை நாம வாங்கிறலாம். சாமி சத்தியமா, அக்காவ கரையேத்தி, நம்ம கடனையும் முடிச்ச பின்னால, நிச்சயம் இந்த நிலம் வாங்கிறலாம். என்ன மிஞ்சிப் போனா, ஒரு அஞ்சு வருசம், அவ்வளவுதேன்…அமைதியாய் தீர்மானமாய் வேலு சொல்ல, தாய் தலை நிமிர்ந்து பார்த்தாள்.
நம்பிக்கை அவள் கண்களில் கண்ணீரையும் கடந்து பளிச்சிட்டது. என் மவன் தலை எடுத்தா என் குடும்பம் உருப்பட்டுறும் என அவள் ஊரிடம் எல்லாம் சொல்வாளே அது நடக்கும் எனும்நம்பிக்கை.
கண்ணீர் துடைத்த அந்த கண்களில் இப்போது நம்பிக்கை ஒளிவிட்டது.....

துபாய் ஏர்போர்ட் வெளிச்சமாய், சுத்தமாய் இருந்தது. மனதில் நிழலாடிய பழைய சில சிந்தனைகள் நூலறுந்த பட்ட மென சட்டென கலைய, தன் கைப்பையை நழுவவிடாமல் கெட்டியாக பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்... இதில்தான், அம்மாவுக்கும், சகோதரிக்கும் வாங்கிய வளையல்கள், தோடுஎ ல்லாம் இருக்கு.....துபாய் தங்கத்துக்கு தனி மவுசுதான். இன்னொரு பொட்டியில வீட்டில் உள்ள எல்லாருக்கும் வாங்கின செண்ட், துணி மணிகள், சோப்பு மற்ற இத்யாதி விஷயங்கள் இருந்தது.... விமான சர்வீஸ் சொல்லும் எடைக்கு அதிகமாக ஒன்றும் இல்லை... ஆகவே, அந்த கிளியரன்ஸ்ல பெரியபிரச்சனை இல்லை என்பதில் ஒரு நிம்மதி.....
ஏர்போர்ட் உள்ளே நிறைய பயணிகள்.... எல்லார் கைகளிலும் ஏதாவதொரு பை.... பையினுள்ளே, சுற்றம், சூழல் எதிர்பார்க்கும் சில பல வெளிநாட்டு பொருட்கள்.... எல்லார் முகத்திலும் ஏதாவதொரு சோகரேகை ஓடுவதை போல் வேலு நினைத்து பார்த்தான்...
ஒரு வேளை நம் சோகம் அனைவரின் முகத்தில் பிரதிபலிக்கிறதோ என்னவோ என்று கூட தனக்குள் சொல்லிக் கொண்டான்....
டிங்… டிடிங்…. பலப்பல விமானங்களின் நேர அறிவிப்பு வேலுவின் சிந்தனையை பெரிதாககலைக்கவில்லை.... இங்கவந்து, ஊருக்கு திரும்பி போற எல்லாருமே என்னிய மாதிரி ஏதாவதொரு வழியில் ஏமாற்றப்பட்டு இருப்பார்களோ? இல்லேன்னா, சந்தோஷமான முகத்தோட ஏன் திரும்பி போகல என்று நினைத்து லேசாக சிரித்துக்கொண்டான்....
அட, இந்தசிரிப்புகூடநமக்கு 3 வருஷம் கழிச்சுல்லவருது.... நேத்துவரைக்கும், நம்மமனசுல சோகம் பாசி மாதிரி ஒட்டிட்டுதான இருந்தது.... இப்போ வந்த இந்த லேசான சிரிப்பு அதுவும், கையில கொஞ்சம் காசோட வீட்டுல இருக்கறவங்கள பார்க்கப்போறோம் என்பதால் தானே?
கையில் டிராப்ட்டாய், ஒரு லட்சத்து எண்பத்து ஏழாயிரம் ரூபாய் உள்ளது. மாப்பிள்ளை வீட்டு காரங்க கிட்ட மூணு லட்சம் கொடுக்கணுமே. என்ன செய்யலாம், கொஞ்சம் தவணை கேட்கலாமோ. வேண்டாம் வாழ போற நம்ம வீட்டு பொண்ணு, புகுந்த வீட்டுக்கு போகும் போது ஜம்முன்னு போகணும். கடன உடன வாங்கியாவது சரி செஞ்சிப்புடணும். துபாய் போய், மறுபடி ஒரு ரெண்டு வருசத்துல கடன அடைச்சு புடலாம். நம்பி பணம் தருவாங்க. பார்க்கலாம், பஷீர் பாய் ஒரு நம்பர் கொடுத்துருக்காரு, ஊருக்கு போனதும் பேசிடணும்.
ஏர்போர்ட் பளபள சுவரில், குளிர் நீர் வினியோகத்தின் அருகில் சென்றான். கவிழ்த்து வைத்திருந்த பிளாஸ்டிக் கப்பில் ஒன்றை கவனமாய் எடுத்து, நீர் சேகரித்து குடித்தான்.
புதியதாய் அணிந்திருந்த அந்த சட்டையின் காலர், கஞ்சி போட்ட விரைப்பில் கொஞ்சம் அழுத்தமாய் கழுத்தை பிடித்தது. புதிய சட்டையின் வாசமும், காலை இருக்கி பிடித்திருந்த அந்த புதிய ஷூவும் வேலுவுக்கு பிடித்திருந்தது. ஊர் சென்றதும் நம் பஜாரில் உள்ள கடை சென்று வடையும் டீயும் சாப்பிட வேண்டும். அந்த சுவை மாதிரி எங்குமே இல்லை.
மனம் இன்று புதுமையாக இருந்தது. ஏனோ தெரியவில்லை, இன்று கவலைகளின் கழிவுகள் இல்லாமல், உடல் லேசாக இருந்தது. மனம் துளசியை நினைத்தது, அவள் நினைவுகளையும் முகத்தையும் மனதில் தேடியது. அவள் எப்படி இருப்பாள், ம்… இந்த மூன்று வருடத்தில் கல்யாணம் முடிந்திருக்கும். வீட்டு பிரச்சனை, பணப் பிரச்சனை எல்லாம் என்னை கோழையாக மாற்றி என் காதலை சொல்லாமல் அல்லவா தடுத்துவிட்டது. ம்…. நினைப்பதெல்லாம் நடந்தா விடப் போகிறது. நீண்ட பெருமூச்சுடன் அந்த நினைவை அவன் கலைத்தான்.
விதி அங்கனம் இல்லாது, அவனுக்கு தர வேண்டிய அதிர்ச்சியை தயாராக்கி, இந்திய ஏர்போர்டிலேயே அவனை அடித்து விட திட்டமிட்டது. விதியின் திட்டம் அறியா வேலு, மெல்ல நடையில் ஏர்போர்ட் உள் விரைந்தான். விதியும் அவன் கூடவே பயணித்தது (டிக்கட் வாங்காமல்)

Rajinikanth: (Humbly) Come on. It's their love and affection.
Question: Why have you become the reluctant interviewee?
Rajinikanth: No, it is the same Rajni. Now since I'm not giving interviews, everybody wants an exclusive. If I give one person, the others feel bad. Better to say 'no' to everybody. Otherwise, the media is too powerful today.
Question: With over Rs 130 crore riding on your name, relieved that Robot/Endhiran did so well?
Rajinikanth: Oh yes, very relieved. It was very tense, naturally, first time so much money being invested in a regional language film. It's not a joke. Hats off to Kalanithi Maran's guts, he had complete faith, he believed that yes, these people won't make a mistake, it's a responsibility. By God's grace (it worked).
Question: It's said that you didn't take a rupee during the making of the film?
Rajinikanth: (Dismissively) I told them, and you give it to me later. Of course, I took it later (laughs). I told them, I don't need money now. If I need money, I'll definitely ask for it. Otherwise why take unnecessarily when so much money is already being spent? I know Maran well, he's a good friend.
Question: You didn't take a rupee during the making but took a part of the profit?
Rajinikanth: Yes.
Question: Which makes you the highest paid star in India?
Rajinikanth: (Laughs) Is that correct? I don't know how much the others take. (Laughs again)
Question: You once told me that if you hadn't become an actor you'd have become a smuggler because you wanted to make money.
Rajinikanth: (Unabashedly) Yes, that is correct, an underworld don. That phase is over, I've made enough money!
Question: And Endhiran was released, you went to the Himalayas?
Rajinikanth: I go to the Himalayas after every film. I go alone without anybody.
Question: You have two daughters. Ever miss having a son?
Rajinikanth: No, no. I'm very happy, by God's grace. We're in the 21st century, gender doesn't make a difference. Look at my two grandsons, Yatra and Linga.
Question: You do something other stars wouldn't. You go out as you are, in a kurta, balding hair as it is without dyeing. And your fans are all right with it?
Rajinikanth: No. It is important to them how you look on celluloid. They're paying for that. There they feel that my hero should look like a hero. Outside, it doesn't matter. People are intelligent, they know everything. Why unnecessarily give yourself discomfort?
Question: They probably appreciate you for being the way you are...
Rajinikanth: Naturally. I told you. On celluloid if you come like that they will hate it. Reality, okay. On celluloid, no, they want the hero.
Question: And this hero gives the audience what they desire an action man who romances, fights and looks invincible. Incredibly, he is also very fit.
Rajinikanth: I do yoga, I exercise. I have to be fit. That is my investment. An artiste can only invest his body. For the mind, good writers and good directors are there.
Question: Do you feel the pressure, as you're growing older? In Robot you did everything, including dance, action and romance.
Rajinikanth: (Laughs heartily) Sometimes, when I do action scenes, I do feel the age... or when I dance. Age is age. But technicians, directors, they know and they manage. When doing a romantic scene now, I feel awkward. Even if I say it's just acting, I do feel a little embarrassed.
Question: Are you careful that it has to be dignified now?
Rajinikanth: You have to be very, very choosy.
Question: After Robot, what?
Rajinikanth: An animation film called Hara. Partly live action, partly animation like Avatar. But a straight out-and-out Rajnikant film has not been decided yet.
Question: There were rumours that Yash Chopra has approached you for Dhoom 3?
Rajinikanth: "They're all rumours. No, (I have) not been approached. Anyway, after Hara, I will need a six-month break. If I get a good character, a suitable role, a good producer-director, only then will I do a film. Otherwise, bahut ho gaya. I'm 61 years old, yaar.
Question: Amitabh is still going strong...
Rajinikanth: He's my inspiration. Actually Dilipji (Dilip Kumar) is the centre for all of us. Amitji, me, Shah Rukh, Aamir... for all of us Dilipji has been the inspiration.
Question: Do you miss the Mumbai air?
Rajinikanth: I was lucky to interact so closely with a person like Amitji, how many get an opportunity like that? We did three films, all super duper hits. Andhaa Kanoon, Giraftaar and Hum. Sometimes, I feel like going to Mumbai and meeting my friends. I had a good circle of friends: Subhashji, Guddu, Rishi, Jeetendra.
Question: Why did you give up Hindi films?
Rajinikanth: I have cut down a lot. In the South itself, I do hardly one film in two years. To ride two horses at the same time is difficult. The way of working in Hindi films and South ones is different. I've done enough work. I did nearly 25 to 27 films there; I was there for almost 10 years. I enjoyed it.
Question: You didn't feel that you are God in Chennai and you're doing only multi-star cast films in Mumbai?
Rajinikanth: Oh, no, no, no. Actually, I was so relaxed. Here I had to carry the whole show on my shoulders. There we shared it, did so many multi-starrers. And with what persons! Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Amitji. Multi-starrers, nice fun, big films, multi-crore projects, going to good locales, good friends. It was good fun and I enjoyed it. Mumbai, mayanagiri. Really cosmopolitan.
Question: You met Balasaheb Thackeray this time in Mumbai?
Rajinikanth: Yes, I met him.
Question: You said he's like God?
Rajinikanth: Yes, yes. He loves me like his first son. I have met him before too.
