I got turned off by the percussion arrangement of that song initially (the "tsk-tsk" lifeless sound that IR uses for the last few years).Quote:

The pallavi of Thendralum maaruthu is not very appealing. However, the charanam and interludes are good.
Wf.
I want to second/reinforce certain points mentioned here-
app's point about Shreya - pretty good voice, emoting and singing. Yup I too think she is getting into the leagues of SJ/KSC..
venki's point on lyrics - cant agree more ..kOlARu/thakarARu is a momentary paucity of imagination, spoils the otherwise nice lyrics. kooda varuviya is also not so nice..I am sure they will use the same line in a cheap song soon. I dont know why we have bad lyrics in IR's songs in recent times. If you look at the "greatest hits" of IR all of them were not a hit without much help from lyrics. Even vaali's words are not so good in IR's songs..simlilarly pazhani bharathi seems to write better for others than IR. I like simple tamil as in Kannadhasan's songs versus the colloquoliasm that IR seems to condone.
Also, I favor AM over vaalmiki ..much better flow in tune there.
Interesting to see that most "IR long-timers" (including inetk) like AM.
Also, most of us no longer seem to care about what's going to happen to this in TN - whether the songs will be hit - movie will be good / hit etc :-)
I'm not sure whether this is a good sign, but at the minimum, sign of maturity :-)
One thing interesting to note is IR putting forth that "extra effort" (i.e. IMG) for his old-time-pals. (I think sangili Murugan is one of the few who has kept his friendship alive with IR for a long-term)
I have a hunch that IR meddles with the lyrics.
You sure got that one right :-)Quote:

1. Muthalena ee baari (Nannavanu- Kannada )
2. Enna senjalum (AM- tamil)
3. Ean ethu Ean ethu .. Maya Maya ( Nannavanu - Kannada)
then come valmiki and Bakyatha bellagara.
After long gap SPB had sung the duet 'Muthalena ee baari' he had done a great job inspite of aging and we can see the difference in his voice, but he escalated the song to higher heights.
The AM songs are catchy with confident , hope IR will be back as he was in 80's.
