I attended 3 of my friends marriage during my vacation .. 1 in Erode , 1 in thirupur and third one in Chennai.Erode and Tripur kalyanamgal thaan kalyanathuku pona maari irunthuchu. Naangalum athae thaan panna vendi irunthuchu .... naama mattum seat la poi utkanaatha komali aakiruvaangalae ... the fun we had with our mappilai frnds in erode and thirupur were completely missing in case of chennai frnd marraige. Velila varapa oru kadamai mudinja maari thaan irunthuchae thavira santhosam illa.
20 years back the meter system in Calcutta (now Kolkota) was quite funny. I'm not sure whether such meters were universal there but most were like that.
They didn't charge based on distance but based on "time taken" :lol: In other words, the taxi meter didn't need any connection to the odometer, it was a simple clock calibrated to show time in Rs :-)
The traffic was so bad there that you won't know how much will be the bill - it depended on how fast / slow the car could go (and not entirely dependent on distance) :-)
