In India, the front portion of ground near our gate will be all sand.
So it will be nice to make kolam early morning.
In Malaysia, normally all will be tarred.
I still follow the practise of sprinkling water early in the morning
and making a kolam in front of my house.
One kolam I made today.
Thanks. Kugan98

selvi
You are right Suvai nga, kolams are meant for ants and insects.
Nowadays the kola maavu is made of fine white powdered sand.
I used to carry back kilos of the powder.
During the last month, my sister gave a bag to my worker who was coming from India to give it to me.
She had put a kilo of the kola podi in the bag, which my worker did not know.
After scanning the bag, the officer pulled him aside and question him as to what he was carrying in the bag.
That boy simply tiru tiru muli and said that the bag belonged to his boss. They opened the bag threw out all the things, after examining the podi many times only they allowed him to board the plane. Poor boy he was very badly shaken.
So please do not carry kola podi in your luggage.
Thanks. Kugan98
Thanks Selviem, I too at times make colour kolams.
Ippa muthalukkeh mosam.
Engeh poi kola podi theduven.
Back to old style of using rice.
I doubt one can get kola podi in Malaysia.
Good Selviem you are back for duty after guests and things.
We start again with our cooking adventure.
Tomorrow is Dev's tayir kulambu.
Take care. Kugan98
Oh my god, big story for the kolam podi. poor guy, i feel pity for him. two years back i went to india in the month of january. my kids stayed with my parents, everyday my mom drew kolam (margali masam) and did colouring too. so my sons packed kolam powder, colour too. we were caught in the airport. i explained the custom people. they checked and they refused. my sons told, uncle that is drawing powder we dont get in our place. we want to carry it with us. then they allowed to carry. so i drew only on the function days. i keep the kolam for a week.

Aarthii glad that you all enjoyed on the ponggal day.
Yes we feel for a person when she is far away.
Now you know how precious a mother's love is.
Proud that you can make beautiful kolams.
Thanks. Kugan98
Dev, made the tayir kulambu today.
Ammadi peyar ellam maathathingga.
Different places have different names.
It's o.k, as long as the dish is super.
Here we add any one type of vege with the ground ingredients, tayir and taalippu and call it as that vege patchadi.
You can make with almost all vegetables.
Today in Malaysia the weather was very hot.
The tayir kulambu was very cool and refreshing.
Thanks Dev, take care. Kugan98

Selviem it was nice of the officers to allow your sons
to take the colour kola podi.
Otherwise they would have been very badly disappointed.
Your tayir avial name also suits Dev's tayir kulambu..
So on the whole a rose is a rose is a rose.
Thanks Selviem, take care Kugan98

NM try pannungo,
Eggless cakes cannot be equal to cakes with eggs.
I know the difference because I have tasted both.
As time goes on we will get used to eggless cakes.
Just like how now, non-vegetarian dishes does not appeal
to me.
I made a vegetarian burger yesterday for the children.
I will post the recipe and picture soon.
Today evennig dinner is spaghetti bolognese.
Also the recipe will follow with pictures.
If you have any vegetarian or non vegetarian recipes
please do post them. Let us try them.
NM I know you might be a busy person and would not have the
time to log on every day.
It does not matter, please log on when ever time permits.
Thanks and take care. Kugan98
