Mankatha got a 5 day weekend opening. I am not taking the credit off Ajith (he anyways is known for opening) but that helped the bumper opening too. If not similar to the collections of Mankatha, the other films wouldve got a pretty decent collection figures if they had released in 5 day weekend.

5 days weekend-nnalum the booking opend with 7-8 shows in multiplexes and 1 or 2 screens in sangam,Abhirami,Devi,Rohini and all...but after saw the rushing of advance booking the major theatres played mankatha in all of their screens, and 30 shows in Sathyam,AGS and 20 shows in PVR,INox.. that increasing shows didnt happened for other movies,including Ajith's previous movies.

The 1.79Crs collection is not from 5 days, those figures are from 3rd,4th,5th day collection.

Ajith, even with a mediocre film, gets the 2nd best opening after Rajni. So the long weekend only helped the collections further. Thats what I meant. Had the 3rd, 4th and 5th day been sunday, monday and tuesday, then the case would've been quite different, right?

Nanban wont create as much hype as Sivaji/Endhiran .. naan padam oothikkumnu sollave illa.. i too think that it will be a hit .

There is no second thought 5 days opening helped for the overall collections,but there were several movies from lead actors went for wide relases and 5 days weekend,but avangalukku intha mathri success kidaikkala. :) So Mankatha is something spl for Ajith even though he is one of the best to get biggest opening.

FYI, Mankatha's second weekend i.e. Sep 9,10.11 collection was 1.3 crs which is still higher than other movies opening weekend collection. :)

I know the weekend is Friday, sat and sunday. Had the film released on a friday, lets assume the film collects 1.8 C in its opening weekend - which itself is phenomenal. I was referring to the 2.7 c mark.
