Thanks for this great song! haven't heard this lovely song before. lovely syncopated rhythm. Has the feel of "paattinge" in parts (mainly bass and drum riffs); the guitar riff in the middle of first interlude has traces of "ilamai idhi idho".Quote:

tvs, great album this is. Also, oru kili urugudhu
"Anandhakkummi" was an IR home production (perhaps the only one made by his own label as others were done by pAvalar creations with IR's brother RD Bhaskar as the producer)...
IR chose to go to Bombay to record the songs for this movie (possibly for the first time and later many followed as IR liked the techniques - clarity etc. of the recording).
Excellent songs and fantastic recording for the time period.
'thAmaraikkodi' is my pick too - the second interlude is among IR's top 10:-)
'oru kiLi urugudhu' and 'O veNNilAvE' were more poplular, though.
Oomai nenjin OsaigaL by S.Janaki and ThindAdudhE by IR too good ones. On the whole, this is a wonderful album to hear even now.
My pick is oomai nenjin OsaigaL besides oru kiLi urugudhu and O vennilAvE.
Thanks for posting the song. Thanks AE for the interesting info!
All the songs in this album are great. I chose "Oh vennilave" cos imo it is the most "exotic" song in the album (and also less known). It has everything I love and hate about IR songs - overuse of folkish percussions and brilliant WCM style sections. These parts are juxtaposed in this song, and not layered over each other. I just love the "naalai, indha velai" part - great melody with lovely arpeggios and chorus arrangements. Both interludes are great. The first one starts with a pure folkish bit (haven't we hear it in 100s of IR song!) followed by a nice hindustani cum baroque style portion followed by a nice strings bit in romantic style, all blending smoothly. Second interlude also has three distinct sections of beautiful chorus, folkish beats and strings. Where is that unbridled IR today?
