it was a fact ;) IR days were gone by that time. 'sembaruthi' CD was sold out within a day, I had to wait few weeks to get it. Those days, you ask who is the music director, then buy the album. By 'CRPR' time, his CDs were left on the shelves to accumulate dust.

"Vijaya Pictures" Neethipathi is starred by TKS Shanmugam, Gemini Ganesan, KR Ramasamy TS Palaiya and K.Malathi (Bathala Bairavi fame. Music is by Visvanathan Ramamoorthy. Story is by Solaimalai. There are at least three nice songs like:
a) Uruvam Kandu En Manathu Uruguthey by TMS and KR Ramasamy.
b)Seena Chakkarai Mittaai Pona varathu by KRR
c) Thaayum Seiyum Pirinthathai Paar by CSJ. This song sia milestone in the Tamil Film Song history. This is the first song where a full orchestra was ever used. The credit goes to MSV. Have you hearde this most ecxellent song? you can here chorus in this song. MSV got hold of about 10 church-going Anglo Indian gilrs to sing humming. The song was such a hit that much later he attempted a modern touch in the film Puthiya Paravai. The song is "Engey Nimmathee" where 70 artistes were used. Next was "Oru Raaja raaniyidam" from Sivantha Mann. The he tried for Nam Nadu in the song "Ninaithathai Nadathiye Mudippavan Naan Naan Naan". Later was "Azhagiya Thamizh Magal Ival" in Rickshawkaran. So now we know the origin of orchestration by MSV.

one of my fav Male duets. The lyrics will put every 'brokeback' to shame but most of our filmi 'friendship' duets had such lyrics(rememer 'ramu i love you' from unakkaga naan?). In nellikani, sivakumar and sivachandran were the heath ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. Swapna played the female lead. Story is the oft seen one: 2 close friends fall for the same girl. In the end one dies and the other gets the girl.
'paadu thendrale pudhu malar vandhadu'(JC,VJ) is another nice song from NK

very good pick ramki.. first time I'm listening to this song.. indeed a hidden SG gem..

I too like this duet. I have seen this song but not the film.

naan oru kovil endru paarththavudan, paadu thendralee patri ezuthanum ena ninaiththen........ neengalae ezuthi vittergal. paadu thendralee somehow overshadows naan oru kovil.
