Are you seriously judging a movies hit with the opening day? One of the main reason behind that huge opening was due to the name. Everyone went to see the movie mainly due to Billa and then Ajith.

Good that nobody is talking about adjusting Ghilli's collection as per inflation. It will be something unthinkable even for Vijay now. For the first time I saw a non Rajni movie running in all screens of Udhayam/Rohini and it was Ghilli. I havent witnessed any such thing after that. PHENOMENAL is a word which will least describe that success. Hence buddies, please stop comparing it with other movies. Its a crime. Its the first movie to cross the 50 C mark and that was 10 yrs ago. And those were not the days of 'Carpet bombing'. Movies purely ran on word of mouth and screen count was directly proportional to the crowd.
Madhura's above expected run and Kuruvi's below expected run can be attributed to only one film - Ghilli.
