Raga Miyan Ki Malhar.
The Hindu published an article about the Tamil movie RathakaNNeer(1961) that borrows a tune from Poonam(1952).
The tune is from
Jhoome Jhoome Dil Mera Chanda ki Chandni men........

I was in a wedding reception for a friend's son. My friend sang this song from Bhakta Surdas(1942):
Panchi Bawara Chand Se Preet Lagaye..... in Kedar.

Kedar is equivalent or close to Hamir Kalyani in Carnatic Music. I was made aware of this in one of our annual music parties.
I opened the evening with the Thiruppavai "thoomaNi maadathu" in Hamir Kalyani. After I finished one of my north Indian friends, author of a book on Indian classical music, came up to me and said that he was happy that I sarted with Kedar. :)
Rajraj,
I might have posted this beore. Do you know which raga this is? A similar tune comes in Missamma when Savitri tries to teach music to Nageswararao. A vauely remember the tune from music lessons during my childhood. Thanks.
