Parker
Directed by Taylor Hackford
Based on Flashfire by Donald E. Westlake [wonderful series]
Starring : Jason Statham as Parker, Jennifer Lopez as Leslie Rogers, few theives, others getting shot.
Parker is a theif. After a fine heist, he is double crossed by his team members and is left for dead. After being rescued by a famer family and with the help of a Realestate agent Leslie, he tracks his ex-team members to teach them a lesson or two.
Not much action in the film. The film goes forward with many problems. There are couple of major ones, other than the plot-holes, one being either the director or Jason Statham have not clearly understood character Parker (those who have read the novels will make out what I am saying), secondly many characters come and go, some even disappear, only left are Statham and Lopez. But some scenes do capture our interest.
Statham gives his usual macho performance - same, same & same. But it is Lopez who made me say "This lady can act". She is brilliant as a failed and depressed realestate agent. She shines in the scene when she offers her help to Statham.
Parker - for fans and to kill time.
Mama
A genuine horror flick which thrills you most of the time. Climax was a bit let down.
Its under Guillermo del Toro [whom I highlighted in my Hobbit review] executive production. Awaiting the movie here, think its a May release.
I see that you are watching a bit of horror flicks these days. Did watch Sinister and Possession. Was not impressed with either, so did not post a comment. But Sinister, as you had mentioned, had 2 or 3 jumpy-moments whereas Possesion was dry.
Forth comming (for summer 2013) : Evil Dead & Poltergeist.
[Evil dead is the movie I was scared when I was kid, had a good laugh with my friends in my teens and later judged it to be cult & classic]
Same here with Evil Dead. It scared the s#!t out of me when I watched it in the 90s. Now it's as funny as Hangover or a Due Date.
Poltergeist wasn't scary. Lets see if the new version is.
Evil Dead gave me a severe headache after watching it... and it was on video tape those days.
Extremely scary film... that I dared not re visit again!
Agree with people on Evil Dead. I saw both the parts when I was kid and had to watch dozen other spiritual movies to erase the impact.
