Can you do the same to some other mindblowing compositions of IR, particularly the ones in which there is an expansive canvas in the background. Infact "Chenduli Chenduli" from Bhaghyada belagara has beautiful bass lines and wonderful lines. it is little peppy too. Can you try that please.Quote:

I really wish to work on it. There are only few little songs which comes out good and these are mainly due to the way voice track is arranged. On his post 2000 works, this can be seen unfortunately most of the songs are over dose of Reverb spilling across the tracks which making way for distortion :-(. In some cases, the bass track is eliminated(can't live without it) since it stays close to voice. Nevertheless I've uploaded 4 songs with say 80% voice removed.

Beautiful. Absolutely. I enjoyed Yaarum Thodatha a Lot. Know what, when it comes to Ilaiyaraja music, I am very biased towards the music or non-vocal part of his compositions. With due respects to singers, I personally have a fascination for 'Composition', which means the tune, arrangements, background, intreludes, etc etc. because they all form the contribution of the composer. Voice is the contribution of the singer. My main focus is Ilaiyaraaja and hence i am always hooked to tune,arrangements etc first, instead of voice. The files you are uploading are exactly the ones i want from Ilaiyaraaja. Infact i wished million times, that he created/released non-vocal or instrumental versions of 95% of his compositions. Infact, i dont mind if he takes a sabbatical from accepting bad films and instead spends his time re-doing all his previous songs - verbatim - but in instrumental formats. They are enough to showcase to the world what a worldclass composer he is.Quote:

I had a hearty laugh when Udit Naryanan says 'Iliyaraajaajee ke music hai jo apne aap mein ek...(silence not able to get the right words)...jithne bhi tarif karein suraj ko diya dikhane waali baat hogi' :lol: Atleast in the North Indian music/musicians circle he is some thing great and unreachable :wink:

such topics have subjective opinions.. based on different examples, positive or negative. Lets not discuss them. People in the music business - i mean composers - have immense respect for ilaiyaraaja. And few others who are musically inclined and knowledgeable (like Amitabh Bacchan) like him too. thats because of their thinking, exposure and various other factors. Like a (once) obscure bengali composer Shantanu Moitra idolizes IR, despite not being in South. R.D.Burman and Salil Chaudhary admired IR. The respect which composers have for each other is never published because that is personal.If we get to meet them personally, they will reveal such anecdotes that we wonder how flawed we were, in assuming something else, going by their style of music.
People who cannot recognize IR are usually the film-makers, because their knowledge about music is limited.And there are many film-makers who know his music, respect him, but their style of films, subjects and film-making makes them to opt for certain composers.its a certain comfort zone and vibes shared because of association. We cant reason it out exactly.
The great composer of yesteryears Madan Mohan (whom IR holds in high esteem) had a huge collection of Jazz music. But when he composed, he gave classical nuggets and hardly any jazz numbers. How can we explain this?
