i am happy to hear that sarojadevi got doctorate.but there are so many talented actress who had been unnoticed.in old films when we compare saroja devi with other actress we can easily tell that she had attained her feat only by pure luck.you cannot see any hardwork in her movies.she will just come for song sequences and appear in guest roles.her tamil dialogues were not up to the level.may be she would have done justice to her roles in kannada films.but in tamil films luck was on her away.all her films were super hits

i think you dont know more about sarojadevi or you havent watched her films.

why not i had seen many movies where she plays guest role.for example there is a famous film called "irumbuthirai",where sivaji and vyjayanthimala will act so beautifully.in that movie there will be no scope for sarojadevi for acting.she went unnoticed due to powerful perfomance by vyjayanthimala.

similar to this is "parthal pasi therum" where she comes only for songs.same scenario in "vidi velli",a sivaji film."parthiban kanavu" with gemeni where she once again surrenderd to vyjayanthimala.

in all mgr films she would not have any scope for acting.but songs are all wonderful thus she attained fame.even i like all her songs with all top heros,but she lacked acting skills when compared with savithri,banumathi,padmini etc which she herself acepted in various interviews.all her name and fame came by luck!!!

Your judgement is completely wrong Sarojadevi is very talented actress in south cinema when you compaired with sarojadevi and others like savitheri padmini etc sarojadevi is the best in all and also in all south indian language.

Undoubtedly the film’s highlight was a sterling performance by Sarojadevi as Rani Chennamma, which is remembered even to this day. Sarojadevi gave a brilliant potrayal of the queen of Kittur going through different phases- as a young girl, the devout wife, the caring foster mother, the queen and the valiant warrior who stands up single- handedly against the might of the British empire. Her diction of lengthy dialogues was fantastic (present day actresses who struggle to say a few words in kannada, are you listening?). The most memorable sequence is however when General Thackerey comes to Chennamma to ask for “kappa kanike”. Sarojadevi’s performance in this scene and her dialogues are popular even today- “Nimageke kodabeku kappa? Neevenu nammavarondige uthira, bithira, nati nettira, danidavarige ammali kayisi kottira……”.Raj Kumar though did a small role gave an impressive performance. All others in the film including Rajamma, Rajashankar, Balakrishna, Narasimha Raju, Ramadevi, Dikki Madahava Rao etc gave good support.

i never came to say that saroja devi is bad actress or others are best.i just told that she had luck because whatever film she acted became super hits.nice to read about her role in kannada film.

i agree that she got padmashree award etc.i am happy.but she has not got any best actress award in national level(filmfare award).actress like vyjayanthimala has received so many times for movies like madumathi,sangam,ganga jamuna etc.

why i came to mention this because you had told that she was best in all languages.i think she was never recogonised in hindi.only one film called"sasural" became hit.

in tamil films she has never got any state awards for best actress.what i am coming to tell is heroines like banumathi,savithri,padmini etc would put lots of efforts in acting which lacks with sarojadevi.that is because due to her voice and tamil language.

i agree that there are so many fans for that konjum tamil but old tamil cinema was full of emotions and dramatic perfomance and the konjum tamil in that situation will not look fair.

in those days heroines played character roles example banumathi acted in movie called annai(1962).she acted beautifully and got national award for best actress.

savithri acted in "missiamma","kalathoor kannama""parthal pasi therum" etc are all character roles that gained them popularity.savithri became big after 60's.if u see her movies in the 50's you will know her talents.

padmini acted in "mangayar thilakam","deivapiravi""thangappadhumai","chiti"," thillana mohanambal"all are powerful character roles. all these films got national award certificates and she won state award for best actress.

she also won the filmfare award for best actress for hindi film kaajal in 1965 and poove puchudava in 1985.(tamil)

sarojadevi films like "bagapirivinai",kalyana parisu" won national award certificate but she din't get any awards for best actress.

i too like sarojadevi but only after all these actresses and i love to watch all her songs with all the heros because it provides lot of jolly mood and enthusiasm.

i was just describing the talents of other heroines and in no way i mean to tell that she is bad or etc.this is just my opinion and never mean to hurt others feelings.
