Thambi Pondaatti - A brilliant album in the early 90s.
I was listening to one of my favourites "Kannan Vandhadhaaley", a beautiful composition sung by Uma Ramanan and I decided to check other songs. i came across this stunner of a song "Un Ennam". The song definitely has an erotic dimension to it. Probably because of the sound of percussion. However, i felt the fast pace of the rhythm was intruding into feel of the song. I mean, it would have sounded better and more justifying if the pace was reduced to half may be. The mood and the song's feel is very sublime at one end and the rhythm's pace (or movement) is bit fast, this intruding into the listener's experience of digesting the mood/feel of the song. Neverthless, it is a phenomenal composition. The bassline is simply terrific.

kalayA nizama from Coolie #1.
IR-Suseela, a very unlikely pair for the song. IR is good, although many telugu friends do not like his voice or diction in the song.
Plum,
Aaah. You reminded me of that lovely song. Surprisingly I didn't hear it when 'Coolie No 1" was released. The hit song then was 'kotha kothaga' (remake of 'puthiya poo idhu'). I heard this song when I went to US once !!! My colleague had a CD with some Raja songs and I used to insist that he play this regularly. Whenever we drove in his car, this used to played.
'Chandamama Raave' from 'Mallepoovu' reminds me of this song.
well, actually yes. I somehow feel he shouldnt have sung it. Even SPB once admitted it. Apparently, SPB told IR itseems, that it wasnt a right song for IR to sing, but IR didnt relent itseems :) But then, bottomline is, people accepted the song and enjoyed it, though most of them crib about the male voice. even i do :)Quote:

In one of the episodes of pAduthA thIyagA, one of the contestants was singing a Raja song (prema ledani possibly) and sung two successive lines in the pallavi exactly alike, inviting immediate rebuke from SPB, who said
"Raja will never structure his song like that to have two successive lines exactly like. Edho oka sangathi pedathAdu different-gA"
