Favorite Scenes/Songs from THALAIVAR Rajini films #3

I guess I'm not the right person to talk about 'thambikku endha Uru.' (I'm still a young, you see.) I don't recall seeing it in one piece at all, and at any rate, it never made so much of an impression during my growing-up years. On the other hand, 'guru sishyan' is a personal favourite (and certainly Rajini's best comic turn) and I remember enjoying 'rAjAdhi rAja' a lot too.

Yeah, this piece. appappO idhu mAdhiri oru salasalappa ERpaduththa vENdiyadhu dhAn. The crux of the resistance is I'm a bit uncomfortable with seeing Rajini as this "once a serious actor who strayed away in a different direction."

And regarding pitting 'guru sishyan' against 'thillu mullu,' the idea is that the former has much more of Rajini's comic persona than the latter. In fact, the latter is a bit of a non-starter on that front (though it is in itself a hilarious performance). It is like Rajini playing the lead role in a sabha stage play. Any other capable actor (in terms of comic timing) could have played it and it'd not have made so much of a difference.

None could have matched the Guru Sishyam comedy performance and it has written Rajni special all over it.. whereas any good comedy actor could have pulled it off in Thillumullu.. In that sense Guru Sishyam scores... right? :huh:

I still think no one could have done it better than Rajini in ThilluMullu. but I think I will agree to the point you are making.. Good analysis :cool:
