ராமன் எத்தனை ராமனடி பார்த்தேன். இதன் விமர்சனம் நமது திரியில் சென்ற வருடம் சாரதா எழுதியிருந்தார். படத்தின் ஒரு சின்ன விஷயத்தை கூட விட்டு விடாமல் மிக அழகாக பதிவு செய்திருந்தார். நானும் அந்த படம் வெளிவந்த போது நடந்த பல நிகழ்வுகளை பற்றி எழுதியிருந்தேன்.
இப்போது பார்க்கும் போது [எப்போது பார்த்தாலும்] பிரமிக்கும் ஒரு விஷயம் நடிகர் திலகம் சாப்பாட்டு ராமனாக வரும் போது இமேஜ் பார்க்காமல் நடித்த சில காட்சிகள். தெரு பிள்ளையாருக்கு தேங்காய் உடைக்கும் போது சிறுவர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து போட்டி போட்டுக் கொண்டு சிதறு தேங்காயை பொறுக்குவது, சிறுவர்கள் இவரை வாடா போடா என்றழைப்பது, கரும்பை வெட்டி தரும் சிறுவனை ஏமாற்றி விட்டு தானே எல்லா கரும்பையும் தின்பது, கே.ஆர்.விஜயாவின் காலில் விழப் போவது இப்படி சொல்லிக் கொண்டே போகலாம்.
அது போல் பெண் கேட்டு போகும் காட்சியில் அடி வாங்குவாரே, உண்மையில் இரண்டு மூன்று தடவை நம்பியார் சிவாஜியின் முகத்தில் காலால் எட்டி உதைப்பார். செந்தாமரை சிவாஜியின் நெஞ்சில் தனது பூட்ஸ் காலை வைத்து அழுத்துவார். இரண்டு படம் நடித்த ஹீரோ கூட இதற்கு ஒப்புக் கொள்ள மாட்டார். ஆனால் நடிகர் திலகம் என்றைக்கு அதெல்லாம் பார்த்திருக்கிறார்?
முதல் பகுதியில் வரும் அப்பாவி பின் பகுதியில் உலகம் தெரிந்த ஒரு நடிகனாக மாறும் போது என்ன வித்தியாசம் காட்டுகிறார். சில சமயம் அவரின் profile போஸிலியே எல்லாவற்றையும் சொல்லி விடுவார். மகளுக்கு கல்யாணம் என்று கே.ஆர்.விஜயாவை அழைத்து போகும் காட்சி. தான் யாரென்று வெளிப்படுத்தக் கூடாது என்று condition போடும் விஜயாவை அவர் பார்க்கும் ஒரு profile ஷாட். அந்த இடது கண்ணும் கன்னமும் மட்டுமே பார்வையாளனுக்கு தெரியும். ஆனால் உண்மையை சொல்ல விட மாட்டேன் என்கிறாளே என்ற உணர்வையும், சரி உன் இஷ்டப்படியே ஆகட்டும் என்ற முடிவையும் அந்த ஷாட்டிலே வசனமே இல்லாமல் வெளிப்படுத்துவது நடிகர் திலகத்திற்கு மட்டுமே முடிந்த ஒன்று.
படத்தில் நடிகர் திலகத்திற்கு அடுத்தபடியாக மனதை கவர்பவர் ஆயா எஸ்.என்.லட்சுமி. பிரமாதமாக பண்ணியிருப்பார். குறிப்பாக அவர் பேசும் இங்கிலீஷ் வசனங்கள் வரும் காட்சிகள் எல்லாமே ரசிக்கும்படியாக இருக்கும்.
மராட்டிய சிவாஜி பற்றி சொல்லவே வேண்டாம். தனி இசைத்தட்டாக வந்து பட்டி தொட்டியெல்லாம் வீர முழக்கமிட்ட வசனம். கண்ணதாசன் பேனா துள்ளி விளையாடியிருக்கும்.
சேர சோழ பாண்டியர்கள் ஆண்ட தமிழ் நாடு பாடல் - வேலூர் பெண்கள் சிறையில் பாடும் பாடல். 1970 ஆகஸ்ட்-ல் வந்த இந்த படத்திற்கு அன்று பொருத்தமாக இருந்த பல மாநில பிரச்சனைகள் இன்றும் 40 வருடங்கள் கடந்த பிறகும் அப்படியே இருப்பதை- தெலுங்கானா, சிவசேனா, பஞ்சாப்-ஹரியானா, சுதந்திர காஷ்மீர்- பார்க்கும் போது வருத்தமே மேலோங்குகிறது.
நடிகர் திலகம் சில பல காட்சிகளில் சென்னையின் தெருக்களில் நடந்தும், ஓடியும், வண்டி இழுத்தும் நடித்திருப்பார். நடிகர் திலகத்தின் வீடாக காண்பிக்கப்படுவது சென்னை தி.நகர் ராமன் தெருவில் அமைந்துள்ள கே.ஆர்.விஜயாவின் வீடாகும். முதலில் ஸ்கூல் பஸ் டிரைவராக முத்துராமன் வருவார். ஒரு காட்சியில் அவர் என்று நினைத்து நடிகர் திலகம் பேச செல்ல, திரும்பும் டிரைவர் புதியவர். அந்த காட்சியில் டிரைவராக நடித்தவர் யார் தெரியுமா? கவுண்டமணி.
நடிகர் திலகம் கே.ஆர்.விஜயாவை மீண்டும் பல வருடங்களுக்கு பிறகு சந்திக்கும் போது பெரிய பூக்கள் போட்ட ஒரு half கை ஷர்ட் அணிந்திருப்பார். அது அந்நாளில் பெரிய பிரசித்தி பெற்றது.
முதல் காட்சி- நடிகர் திலகத்தின் அறிமுக காட்சி. அதில் "போட்டின்னு வந்துட்டா சும்மா விட மாட்டேன். ஜெயிச்சு காட்டறேன்" என்பார். தியேட்டர் அலறும்.
இந்தப் படத்தில் நடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் போதே, பிரெஸ்டிஜ் பத்மநாபனாகவும், எதிரொலி நீதிபதியாகவும், சொர்க்கம் பணக்காரனாகவும்,எங்கிருந்தோ வந்தாள் பைத்தியக்காரனாகவும், பாதுகாப்பு படகுகாரனாகவும், இரு துருவம், தங்கைக்காக, அருணோதயம், சுமதி என் சுந்தரி, பிராப்தம், சவாலே சமாளி கதாப்பாத்திரங்களாகவும் வாழ்ந்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார் நடிகர் திலகம் என்று சொன்னால் அதை விட அந்த நடிகனுக்கு சிறப்பு வேறு என்ன இருக்கிறது?

Was casually channel surfing when encountered this Telugu "historical" movie. Checked synopsis, and said starring Nageshwara Rao, NT Rama Rao, Jaya Pradha, S. Varalakshmi and Sivaji Ganesan.
And I went, :shock: wait, what?
So, I waited and waited, finally our man came and he was Alexander The Great. Is there no end to the great historical roles the man plays? Seated on the horse in the first scene, he started emoting when the bummer set in. Yes, he was dubbed and the dude who dubbed him seemed to have massive Sinusitis issue. Anyway, since there was Malay subtitles, I just muted and imagined NT's voice.
I had to go out in between and managed to catch the last part, where our Alexander is entertained by gals doing various Indian-related dances and our hero NTR comes barging in exchanging couple of heated words and then fight mano-o-mano with Alexander.
Thankfully no blood was spilled, and I guess this film is a bit like Rajaraja Cholan, more on drama and less on battles. All in all, NT did a fine job and knew his place by not attempting to overshadow the two leads (Nageshwararao played NTR's guru, emphasis of this film being guru-sisyhan relationship).
Ah, my first non-Tamizh NT film. Interesting.

Thanks for sharing the perception of how NT acts without ego for the sake of character and story.
In the above lines, i recollect a similiar incident narrated by actor sivakumar in TV some months back.
It is the scene where NT tries to remove the small ring (Kazhaiyani) from sivakumar's leg finger in "Thirumal Perumai".
This scene was shot near an old temple at Chingelput. The whole area was an open ground with thorns, bushes and grass and it served as an "Open Toilet" to the village people.
Noticing the condition of the ground NT had said to sivakumar" Goundere, intha shotla naan enna pannaporennu unakku theriyum, athanale un kalai konjam suthamma vechikoppa".
When the camera started rolling,after the dialogues, without any hesitation or fuss, NT had knelt down and started trying to remove the ring from sivakumar's leg finger the scene was okayed in a single shot!!!.
Sivakumar became emotional while narrating this incident. He said"NT was the ultimate star and I was the junior most artist, inspite of all this, without any ego or fuss, NT enacted the scene with all dedication. Had this been other actors, they would have simply refused this scene quoting the site location and star status".
Do we need more proof of NTs dedication.

The person happened to be the President of Sivaji Fans Association, Dehradun at that point of time and out of sheer anxiety whether the film is doing well, had asked this question.

Special appearence (not guest appearnce) as Alexander The Great in CC. This movie run 50 days in Movieland theatre, banglaore . There was a huge cutouts with big garlands of Three legends in front of the theatre. Run more than 100 days in AP. Some other actor dubbed for NT. In fact, some well known actor from telugu industry was supposed to act in this role. Due to some problems, and also fearing he may not be noticed by the fans when two great legends also there. The film was produced and directed by none other than NTR. When he requested our NT for Alexendar role, as a person of "NEVER SAY NO", he accepted the role without taking any reumuneration - since NT wants to be part of with the Two Great Legends of Telugu FI.
was not known telugu when watched this movie 33 years back. When saw huge cutout of NT, went and saw though didn't understand the language.
Mr.Saikuamr - a telugu-kannada actor is a great fan of NT. In his realty show WOW in ETV, he often mentioned and never miss to praise NT whenver opportunity comes during show. In the recent episode, a month back or so, he asked some questions from Devar Magan (telugu version) to the participant. One ques. was who is acting Kamal father in that movie. (since this is a dubbing movie, viwers are very less in seeing in theatre) When participant was not given correct answer, Mr.Sai Kumar answered that Sivaji Ganesan is the correct answer. Further he said - to tell about SG, he has acted in "SMALL ROLES AS HERO" more than 280 films and got many INTERNATIONAL AWARDS, except Our Govt. award. Nenna, Munna uuchina actors (yesterday, day before yesterday) are getting awards. Still not known why he has not got. Further he said that some one come forward to do research why he has not got award and alteast the researcher try to get award from our Govt.

சூழ்நிலையால் தவறு செய்யும் நல்ல மனிதனின் வாழ்க்கையையும், மனப்போராட்டங்களையும் இவ்வளவு இயல்பாக சித்தரிக்கும் படம் தமிழில் நான் பார்த்ததில்லை.
ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் வாழ்க்கையில் தவிர்க்க முடியாமல் தான் பொய் சொல்லும்போது ஏற்படும் மனத்தவிப்பை பல காட்சிகளில் அப்படியே N.T. பிரதிபலிக்கும் போது அவர்கள் தங்களையே காண்பார்கள்.
தில்லானா மோகனாம்பாள், மோட்டார் சுந்தரம் பிள்ளை வரிசையில், படத்தில் பாடல்கள் உண்டு. ஆனால் ஒன்று கூட Hero வுக்கு இல்லை. முதல் வரிசை நடிகர் எவரும் என்றும் செய்யத் துணியாத பெருந்தன்மையான செயல் இது.
கலையை உண்மையாக நேசிக்கும் ஈகோ இல்லாத உண்மை நடிகன் ஒருவ்னால் மட்டுமே முடியும். ஆம்... NT யால் மட்டுமே முடியும் :clap: :clap:
சிக்கலான கதையை ரசிக்கும்படி ப்டமாக்கிய K.B. யும், N.T. க்கு ஈடு கொடுத்த K.R. விஜயாவும் பாரட்டுக்குரியவர்கள்.
இவ்வளவு நல்ல படம் ஓடவில்லை என்பது குறித்த வருத்தம் எனக்கு எப்போதுமே உண்டு.

My feelings about it changed over the time, from really disliking it those days to watchable now. My notes:
1. K. Balaji, no thanks to typecasting himself as bad guy in his own films, still looked dishonest right at the end...where I believe they cut the part, "Okay, I was kidding. Radha you marry me, guys kill Gopi (NT)". Maybe not :?
2. The kid, mercifully, was not annoying that must have been a tough thing to do. Maybe he (she?) had a lesson with Kamal. One too many "Run, forrest, run" scenes.
3. KVM was so and so here, probably pressured to copy one of the Hindi original. Poor Mama. Other songs are okay, but not great.
4. NT gave his all, and that's what he can do with poor writing. Though, I took note of one scene where NT was NT. It was him meeting his ex-lover, and her father, after a long time. While Manjula and VKR was giving the off-the-grocery-store " :shock:" expression, he gave a slight register of shock, then a realisation that things were sour in the first place, and brief sadness before recovering. All these in two seconds!! And when seeing VKR, same but with anger. Also in very short time. Nuance-na ithutaan nuance. It maybe a mediocre film, but nobody can prevent him from giving his best.
5. Like I said, overall a mediocre film that could be intolerable if someone else played the lead.
Haven't seen the movie for a looooong time, but remember having liked the movie as a kid ( like every single NT movie, I watched at that time :) ). The film used to do well during subsequent releases in my native place in the 80s and 90s.Quote:
