This is an evergreen duet. And as you rightly note, it is hard to pin down what it is about this song that captivates one so...If I could hazard a guess, I'd say it is "perfection" on every level - composition (an IR signature appears at 3:14,) lyrics, singing and mood. What fascinates even more is this: The verses are an indictment of societal double-standards, but the tune is liltingly infectious! Such a delicious paradox!
Thanks for reviving the IR magic again!

Not that this is a complaint, but if VJ & ____ duets are all you've got in your collection, I'd happily settle for them (like the current one featured) but it would be equally worthy to hear solos by LRE, VJ, UR, Swarnalatha...I'm sure you'll keep this in mind for future surprises (or shocks? :) )

Ramki, do you know the original Telugu version, solo by SPB, which movie? It is really fantastic. Do you also know, the song in Anvenshna "Ilalo" http://www.raaga.com/channels/telugu.../A0000008.html has an differently orchestrated Tamil version in a Karthik movie, do you know name of this Tamil film?
Thanks.
I am also lookin for Title BGM of Nammoora Mandara Hoove.

(Ramki, I meant the "Alai Meethu" song was originally in a Telugu movie and sung by SPB, very beautiful version. but, i don't know the movie name. )

Dear Friends,
Warm Greetings and Iniya Tamil Puthaandu Vaalthukkal....!
I'm very happy to join and able to discussing in this forum.
Dear Ramki,
Could you clear this doubt?
Recently I have read an interview (article) with Sujatha in Thinathanthi – Sunday Edition. Sujatha said, she is the singer for the song “Oru Iniya Manathu” – Johnny. But most of my friends arguing that it was not by Sujatha and the singer as Jency. Which is true?
Thanking in advance.

Naaz/baroque
Thanks for your suggestion. I will soon upload some solos.
yvsmani, sorry for not giving the details. Since i discused the story line and characters in 'kaadhal dhegangaL' selection from the same film, i thought the details will be redundant. The film had sarathbabu, shanthikrishna, srividya and it was directed by Mahendran
Shankar, thanks for the link. I will check it out.
I'm not sure if you are a mind reader :) but 'samudhra rajakumari' will be the next selection(i will do it in few hours).
Natha im not aware the telugu version. Let me see if i can find some details
Welcome to the forum Premananth.
'oru iniya manathu' is by sujatha.

Like you, "alai Meedhu" always excites me. The way VJ sings the song to me makes all the difference.
Whenever I hear this song, I always wish we had more of IR-VJ combo songs created.
Well, whatever songs that were created with this combo remains very special to music lovers
IR once again does not fail Mahendran
Thanks Ramki onceagain
