Thanks rajkumar and skr. Rajkumar has shared my feelings though I must say that I have started understanding the Malayalam language a bit after listening to all the Raja songs :)
skr: I am no way an expert on Malayalam songs. There are others here like Sagar (who doesn't post much nowadays) and raj_musing who are experts in the Malayalam field.

All Wonderful songs suresh,but I feel songs of "Yathra", "My dear Kuttichatan" and "Atharvam" are also true gems from the 80's."Poovayi virinju" from Atharvam which has shades of Keeravani is possible only for a composer like him!(Not to forget the comment made by MGS in Hridayaragangulude raja link) Also another song which is my personal favourite from his malayalam list is "Vaalittezhuthiya" from Onnanu nammal.

After a little bit of hair pichchifying, I've concluded yesterday that this was another anthi mazhai :wink:
In village lingo, 'rAsi Adhal' = peace agreement. When there's some existing enmity, by continuous talks, peace accord can be reached. The song line's literal meaning is that - we were enemies before, talking-talking, we're now at peace. The trouble is, I can't connect it to the prior lines or the line after or the movie situation - pothi vachcha malliga mottu, pooththiruchchu vekkaththa vittu...PPRA...mAman pEra cholli cholli ALAnathE - the others are all about a girl coming of age, which was the situation I think in the movie. How suddenly the girl becomes shy with her muRai mAman etc.
I don't remember if there are any enmity between families or any kind of reconciliation between them by this louvvu. Possibly BR had narrated that kind of situation and VM tried to include some family fight background in the lines. Later no such situation but the lines stayed possibly. The end product, as we see today, has this phrase without context IMO.
BTW, the way SJ sings the words 'malliga' & 'vekkaththa' - especially the inclination in the last syllable is delicious! And so are the laughters that SPB throws here and there (e.g. the pallavi between saraNams with clap background)
App - I totally get your point. I do understand meaning of some words in Malayalam probably because it's used in Tamil. But it doesn't help in understanding even a line completely, forget about the poem then. Anyway, the more I listen to these Malayalam songs, I do learn meanings for some new words. Personally, lyrics never prevent me from enjoying the beauty of a song and in my case lyrics get the last priority when I enjoy a song. I think that's why I'm enjoying IR's songs in all non-Tamil languages.
But there are some songs which are so beautiful/powerful that I would love to know the meaning conveyed by the lyrics. This is not the complete list but just something from top of my mind:
