That's a great find Plum!. It's unbelievable how he transformed the same tune into a totally contrasting setting. I have not seen the picturization and situation, but it seems the first one is more shot in the indoor with subdued mood with the flute, veena interludes reflecting it, while the second one seems to be a outdoor folk happy duet and even a dreamy?? song. Just the singers and the interlude exchanges does the trick, Wow! quite amazing!
Recently heard this BGM piece from Sankeerthana and was completely hypnotised..So ephemeral yet so everlasting..Kept repeating it over and over again..
A friend of mine had made a lovely comment hearing the piece "Guitar is created since a Maverick named Ilaiyaraaja is destined to rule it"
Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynNFVRlP0O4
beautiful....
I woke up to guitar Ilayaraaja too this morning ,
soft, enticing guitar prelude and guitar-flute counterpoint interlude of azhagey malarey aaradhanai seigiren......very relaxing.

skr, thanks for sharing that BGM piece, extremely beautiful! Etthanai kodi inbam vaithai, rasiah!
Baroque, Azhage unnai could rank among the best short songs of IR, no?
Here's another lovely guitar based composition I'm enjoying at the moment - Nilave nee varavendum (from En Arugil Neeirunthaal). Another of those songs where its difficult to get past the prelude without repeating it several times!
nice...
vinatha.

Thanks KV for Nilave nee varavendum ..a total killer of a prelude..
நேற்று வந்த காற்று - கண்மணி என்ற பிரசாந்த படத்திலிருந்து. I guess this is a rare song, re-used in some hindhi movie by karthik raja.
