Capitol Cinema, CST : Exactly opposite our Monument CST station is this old small white looking theater called ‘Capitol’ since 1879, Once the Gothic movie play house of residents around fort area which played some British dramas is now the B Grade Hindi movie show theater. The very first show at Capitol cinema was attended by Governor and his wife, which features a premier of ‘The Flag Lieutenant’ which was a British film

Nishat Cinema, Grant Road : Located at Sukhlaji Marg, Kamathipura, The famous Red light Area of Mumbai, Nishat cinema was once a play house started on 15th August 1952. This theaters is owned by Neeta Palhaj Nihalani, wife of Director pehlaj nehalani which now runs only Bhojpuri films after the play house was replaced with this old theater. Ticket cost are still Rs.15 and Rs.20 for all shows in this talkies.

Imperial Cinema Hall, Grant Road : Located at 360 Near Police Station, Lamington Road, Girgaum, Mumbai, Imperial is a special Bhojpuri cinema hall with good business collections in Night shows. Way back in 1905 when Imperial started, it was hosting famous orchestra’s in this theater. Those white round pillars with that old Orchestra style semi circled board with name ‘Imperial’ is some thing you will like to see once. Now if you want to try any Bhojpuri film at cost of Rs.30 and Rs.35 this is one of the special theaters for same

Gulshan Theater, Opera House : Located at Play House 215, Opera House, Exactly opposite Delhi Darbar this is one of the oldest and cheapest cinema halls of Mumbai still running at ticket rates of Rs.9 and Rs.10. Good to be once as trial as the cinema halls is also been renovated some 10 years before, Let me say now that is a good cheap time pass location in Mumbai to enjoy movies from 1980’s and 1990’s, atleast in that hot summer day, feels like doing something funny and new in city.

Alfred Cinema Hall, Grant Road : Another in the list of Old theaters of Mumbai, Located at Plot Number. 174/180 Patthe Bapurao Marg, Grant Road East, Mumbai. Alfred is one of those oldest talkies started in 1880 with name ‘Rippon’ then renamed to ‘Alfred’ in 1932 (i.e still before Independence), with ticket pricing as low as Rs.18 and Rs.20, people now visit this old beautifully European architectural cinema hall of Mumbai to see soft porn movies and action movies.

Bangalore New City Theatre - Watched so many picutres including Ramarajan's Gopura Deepam. No become shopping centre.

Kino - No idea

Saradha - I think it is still running

Nataraj - I think it is Still running

Pallavi - I think it is still running

Poornima - Still running

Urvashi - Still running

Parimala - No idea

Sangam - Become shopping mall

Lido - No idea

Rex - No idea

Sampige - No idea

some theatres near Ulsoor I forget the names where I have seen so many movies like Minsara Kanavu, Avvai Shanmugi etc.,

One theatre near Shivaji Nagar I do not know whether it is there or not.

Egipura Ravi near Koramangala - no idea about the running of the theatre

Easwari near Kathiriguppa - no idea about the running of the theatre

Chowdeshwari near Bank Colony - no idea about the running of the theatre

Navarang near Rajaji Nagar- I think it is still running

Santhosh theatre near Majestic - I think it is still running


There are other theatres near Majestic area where I have watched so many Hindi/Kannada movies during 90's. Unforgettable experience. Wonderful city.

4)மாறி வரும் காலத்தில், அன்றைய காலத்தின் அசல் பதிவுகள்.

5)அதில் ஊடாக நிற்கும் அழகியல்,இயற்கையான அடிப்படை வாழ்வு,சுரண்டல்,மனிதம்,அப்பாவித்தனம்,மூடிய மனங்கள்,சில குரூரங்கள்,வக்கிரங்கள்,காதல்கள்,காமங்கள்,குற்றங்கள ்,மீறல்கள்,அதிசயங்கள்,இழப்புகள்,வரவுகள்,நல் -வல் உணர்வுகள் ,பாசங்கள்,குதறல்கள்,ஈரங்கள் அனைத்தும் இருக்கும்.

6)மன உணர்வுகளில் செய்திகள் ஏறாமல், இன்னொரு மனத்தை குடியேற்ற செய்யும் பதிவுகள்.

7)இதில் மற்ற பதிவர்கள் போல cut paste செய்து,ஒரு ஊரின் டென்ட் கொட்டாய் ,அதில் தன் அபிமான நடிகரின் படம் எப்படி ஓடியது என்ற போலி பீற்றல்கள் என்று சுருக்காமல்,இன்னும் விரிவான தளத்தில் இருக்க வேண்டும்.

8)சுருக்கமாக, என் போன்ற,வாசு போன்ற,மது போன்ற,முரளி போன்ற,சி.க போன்ற,கிருஷ்ணா போன்ற ,ராகவேந்தர் போன்ற,கார்த்திக் போன்ற,வெங்கி போன்ற,P _ R போன்ற,Poem போன்ற ,சாரதி போன்ற,ஜோ போன்ற அழகுணர்ச்சி, எழுதும் திறன் கொண்ட பங்களிப்பாளர்களால் இத்திரி நிறைந்தால் ,நமக்கு முழு விருந்து காத்திருக்கிறது.

கோபால் சொல்லியிருப்பது போல் கீற்றுக் கொட்டகை என்பது ஒரு பழைய காலத்து டூரிங் டாக்கீஸ் என்பதையும் தாண்டி பழைய நினைவுகளைக் கிளற வைப்பதற்கான ஒரு icon ஆகவும் நாம் எடுத்துக் கொண்டால் அந்நாளில் நம்முடைய திரையரங்க விஜயம் மற்றும் அது தொடர்பான நம் வாழ்க்கையின் நிகழ்வுகளையும் சேர்த்து இத்திரியின் கருத்தரங்கினை விரிவாக்க உதவும்.

என்றாலும் கோபால் சார்
ஒரு விஷயத்தை நீங்கள் கவனிக்க வேண்டும். அந்நாளில் பெரும்பாலானோர் ஏதேனும் ஒரு விஷயத்தில் தங்களுடைய அபிமானத்தை செலுத்தியிருப்பர். குறைந்த செலவிலான பொழுது போக்கு சாதனம் என்கிற வகையில் சினிமாவின் மேல் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கக் கூடிய அபிமானம், அதைத் தாண்டி அதிலிருந்து narrow down ஆகி ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நடிகர் அல்லது இசையமைப்பாளர் என்கிற வகையில் அபிமானம் focus ஆகி அது ரசிகர் என்ற பரிமாணத்தையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த பரிமாணத்தையும் அடைந்திருக்கும். அந்த நினைவுகளும் அதையொட்டிய நிகழ்வுகளும் வாழ்வில் என்றைக்கும் பசுமரத்தாணி போல் நெஞ்சில் நிலைத்திருக்கும்.
