  king of bgm..
awesome bgms!! goodness me! its sad that such an effort is down the drain! many of the stuff was so frigging rich in strings, they wud have been instantly noticed had it been a bigger/popular movie!Quote:

IR needs that kind of emotionally packed scene or at least a decent script to give something phenomenalQuote:

OMG! Such a wasted effort!Quote:

Happy new Year to all!
A New Year special :
Songs from "Chaitram" (Malayalam), probably not something many in the forum may have heard.
http://www.mediafire.com/?6ixjrz4mzxi
There are 2 songs : Hridaya raaga & Paadoo Sakhi - Both gems!
Saagar,
Thanks for the New Year gift. I was anyway going to ask you for this :)
I read your list of Raja movies in Malayalam and realized that I did not have songs from some of those movies. Other than this movie, I would like to have the songs from:
- Samrajyam
- Aarumanikor
In case you have them, kindly upload.
Suresh,
Samrajyam (*ing Mammootty) is a songless movie, it had only the BGM by IR.
Thanks CRV for the info.
Yes Suresh,
Samrajyam did not have songs. But I remember one aspect of the film - that it it had a trademark signature tune runing all along the movie in the background that was very famous and talked about when the movie released.
Suresh,
I had been on travel again- Sorry for the delay in posting the reply.
The link to Aaru manikoor song. There are 3 songs in the film, but have got only one :
http://www.box.net/shared/guo88ojk0k
It's a Mal version of Oru naal Unnodu oru naal uravainil....
Thanks Saagar. No problem about the delay. All of us have our day job. (Though it is not apparent when they see our postings :)

Ilayaraja special with Gangai Amaran as Judge
Thanks K. Was looking for this since I did not watch the episode on TV.
firstly, thanks for that link K.
Was there only 1 episode of Ilaiyaraaja special in paadutha theeyaga?
raagas, There were 2 episodes. From the first episode, only one song, 'Asalem Gurthuku raadu' is up on youtube.
I like fans like us here at least (mothama setha oru lorry kooda fullagathunnu ninaikiren :D ) buy original CD's of Raaja's albums. But i do understand sometime it becomes next to impossible thing to get the CD's of 70's, 80's.
I am trying to collect original CD's or LP's as much as possible. Recently i was surprised to find of of his rare album , the movie is "Enakkaga kaathiru". I love all the songs... absolutely fantastic. I know MP3 versions are available in the net but very poor quality. If any of you need the songs from the album do mail me.
One more video from Paadutha Theeyagaa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C72O0s4RjsU
Good anecdotes, i must say!
Suresh already posted this link in another thread. I am re-posting it here just because we are sharing many Paadutha Theeyaga links here, for easy reference.

Check out the links posted by raagas. SPB says that some of the very popular songs like 'Ravivarmake' and 'Rasanu Premalekalenno' have Raja's contribution in them, though not acknowledged.
Just came across this link - fabulous singing - and excellent supporting orchestra in this IR rounds - munch star singer in Asianet...

Thanks for the link Krish. A tough song to sing but she does justice. The juniors are doing a great job compared to their seniors.

ஒரு பானை சோற்றுக்கு ஒரு சோறு பதம் !
love, Vinatha.
Just listened to Kannukulle BGMs. As saagar exclaimed, 'OMG, What a wasted effort'. The master in full flow. Whoever played the violin has done a very nice job. Lovely tone and very well played.
I came across this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jTNHh1ubPA
The uploader(artist) is a musician based in New York and he improvised the Mouna Raagam theme into a song (as a tribute to Ilaiyaraaja and Maniratnam). He did quite a good job. i wouldnt say he strictly stuck to IR school of thought alone, but he took the theme and did his own thing, quite well. Pretty impressive.
Check out Violin Vicky's latest post of Raja - Janaki combination in Malaylam.

Great post there!Quote:

OTOH, about others - excluding the ones that had equivalent TFM versions, I didn't know those were IR's though I've heard them here and there. Must have been hits when they arrived. Whether it was the customers' taste (i.e.directors) or IR's motivation to be competitive, his MFM had a superior melodic content always :-)
Well said app_eng. Exactly my thoughts when I had written about Raja's Malayalam film songs in my blog: http://sureshs65music.blogspot.com/2...n-south-2.htmlQuote:

Added to it Illayaraja had to match up to the glorious music of people like Baburaj, Salil Choudhary, Devarajan and his own guru, V.Dakshinamurthy. Vicky's top class post once again:
http://raagadevan.blogspot.com/
Simply loved the post by Vicky. I liked all his posts till now. very informative.Solladha is one of my favourites and althoigh i could sense the peculiarity in the rhythm, i never studied or dissected it as such. Brilliant.
there is another absolutely mind-blowing track in SATHYA (kamal, amala) that never made it to the screen - "ingeyum angeyum" - which has all the trademark unorthodox tala structures, twists and turns - special components include a piano motif and a stunning second interlude - in terms of evolution of motifs within a composition, that is under 5 minutes long, this piece is matchless in creativity!
somehow IMHO, IR always reserves such completely unorthodox styled scores for Kamal!
Any link to this song?Quote:
