Senty, ‘Siricha kollimala kuyilu’ is from Jothi (1983/Thaai Creations). The song was sung by SPB & an obscure singer called Saaya. Music by IR, and lyrics by Vairamuthu.
Jothi used to be my favorite movie especially for the songs. Very different. IIR had played with regular utensils like a tumbler,plate, spoon etc falling on the ground at the appropriate places in a song supposedly sung among a group of drama artists. Very captivating and original song I have ever heard!!

m4e, Surya has already answered your query, SPB & VJ it is. Vasanthathil Or Naal was a remake of the hindi film Mausam (Sanjeev Kumar/ Sharmila Tagore). The film was directed by AC Thirulogachander. MD: MSV.
Chumma, 'Oru devathai vandhaal' is from Neethipathi. It din't feature in the film, though :(
Thenoorudhe is from Vellai Pura Ondru.

There was this song from EngaL Vaadhiyaar which goes something like "Samudhra raajakumari, sugaraaja sukumari". Nice one. Captivating mridangam. Sung by VJ and JC? I am quite sure MSV was the MD.

Samudra Rajakumari, Sugapushpa Sukumari...Is vintage MSV. I haven't heard the song in months, but if my memory serves me right (oh yeah?) there is a superb smooth-jazz interlude after the second charanam. The transition is both incongruous and integral at the same time! All done with the MSV finesse and authority. You have to give it a listen sometime.

Naaz, I only remember that captivating trademark mridangam that was so characteristic of many MSV songs. Haven't listened to Samudra Raajakumari in about twenty or so years!
Mythila, know of any other lilting Vijayabhaskar melodies? I only remember those of MSV's, for I was (and am still) an avid MSV fan and also an avid KVM fan (although I will readily acknowledge the genius of IR).
I was listening to SPB's 50th birthday celebrations which I believe happened sometime around 1997 or 1998 (my friend very kindly sent me his CD). In it, Gangai Amaran says he and IR played the guitar and some other instrument for GKV's super duper melody "ThEn sindhudE vaanam, unai enai thAlAttudhE".
Senty, since the mid eighties I lost touch with tamil film music; only picked up the lost threads in the late nineties!

Hi M4E, I recommend few of VijayaBhasker's songs for u to cherish, although Sara will be the best pointer

Raghu, I too am trying to gather details of the film Pokkisham. All I know is it may be a film dubbed from Telugu, it had music by Satyam, and it had another good song 'Kalyanam thirukkalyanam' (PBS/PS).
Mythila, I second your Vijayabhaskar list- perhaps you could add 'Iravil irandu paravaigal' and 'Idho un kaathali' from Soundaryame Varuga Varuga, 'Ilamai naatiya saalai' from Kalyanammam Kalyanam and ' 'Mohana punnagai oorvalame' from Uravu Solla Oruvan.

I guess you must be thinking of the song "Poove..Ithu Kaatrin Geetham..Uyir Paadum Neram". I don't know which movie this is from. Happened to catch it in Oliyum OLiyum when it was released. I dont understand why I still remember this song, maybe it was the novelty of a guy falling in love with a nun..
May be "Maragadha megam" was by PS and not VJ?
