i agree.. cheran lifetime achievement done with it... which justifies his non-existance now...

In MM, there is a scene where, one of the DILs gives the child to her parents when Saranya (her MIL) comes because, Saranya is asthmatic (or TB or something) and she doesn't want the child to be with her.
The son hits her for it and his wife's parents also reprimand her for using them to keep the child away from her MIL!
This is pretty new, isn't it?
The 'kodumakkaara marumagaL' merged with the 'protective mother'.
The husband actually says: 'even if my kid dies because of some infection contracted by being close to my mother, so be it'.
indha mAdhiri clash of values ellAm assault-A koNdu vandhiruppApla.
I think I mentioned about the final fight in this thread earlier when I saw the movie on TV. An example of the 'natural' fights that we see more often now.
final fight...? marandhuruchu
ya i remember that sequence...
andha maadhiri sequence ellaam paakra mental strength namakku nemba kammi :(
and the kodummakaara marumagal also comes under a sterotype..
i am waiting for a character which fights hard with the family members one day and being so affectionate with the same people the next day... thats how i have seen the family characters around me...

Solla Marantha Kathai mega bore and very *trying*. Perhaps the only good thing about SMK is, it was ShreyaG's first with Raaja :-) :-) (though her singing/diction was way below average) I also like edhO onnu song and cheran's summing in the sand :lol2:
venki...
novel ellaam adhigam padichadhillai...
andha plot enakku avlovaa pudikkalai... whereas MK/MM involves complete joint families with their unions & intersections, which is too close to what i have seen... the maamanaar (pyramid?) is made to be a villain in it when compared to the paavamaana marumagan... and radhi was a miscast...
rejet is my personal rejet...
namma edhirpaakkuradhu.... indha side irukkavanga pakkamum nyaayam irukkanum... andha side'um nyaayam irukkanum... irundhaalum sandapOttukkanum... adutthadhuttha scenela naama pachOndhi maadhiri ovvoru character pakkamum thaavanum...
i like black-white movies too, but not in family dramas...
have u really seen so many black characters in families around u?
Nerd,
Was it not 'Enakku piditha paadal' the first?
Softy,
MN and MM are my guilty pleasures. Edho onnu vachurukkanya andhaalu..
App small correction. IIRC SMK - 2002 deewali, Julie - early 2003. March I think.
Actually, maya kaNNadi kooda sumAra parallAma oru mAdhiri pAkkuRa mAdhir dhAnE irundhudhu?

Softie - nAn oru podi vechEnE. namakku oru weakness - BGM, Rajaraagam, aduppadi, varadhukutty...
SMK is crap. MK is dipshit crap.
Ha! I'll speak to Red K_G, eh?
yedho thoani naan ingittu vandhen..
Musically MK is nice - with neat recording compared to IR albums from the same time frame.
Ulagile Azhagi needhaan has the mix of nice rhythms, WCM , carnatic violins, sitthaar and synth - junior jesappa doing a neat job..
Konji konji - is breezy with karthik sounding really nice..
my pick is "Kaasu kaiyil illaatta" = pure raaja magic..
Julayi - Except few comedy scenes and the love track, nothing was great. It was predictable. Allu Arjunukku ellam therinjidum pola. Intha Character software la irunthiruntha ella company future ayum predict panni iruppaar. Avvalavu Smart :lol2:
since there are no thamizh movies to watch... I would like to recommend...

I guarantee you a RIDE of your life!!!!
It hasn't released in India. Waiting for it.
dont miss it ajay... before they remake it in tamil...
jeeva as hero, pranita as his gf, santhanam as his buddy, satyan as sirippu police, prakash raj as bully police, nandhita as refugee mum :frightened:
+1
it is emotional manipulation throughout but not far off from reality........except for couple of chest thumping crying scenes which were cringeworthy, it did not go too overboard with emotions.....i kinda welcome it......also, the flow and sequences were natural, nothing banal - namma kudumbathalayum nadakkradhu dhaane......esp the scene where tarun gopi talks to GM Kumar on manivannan died - it was so natural, the same way, one explains death of family members......
visu padam ellam classic dhaane - oru madhiri creates a world of his own caricatures......after a point, ellame jolly dhaan....dont worry u have kambeni :-) except for didi tera dada deewana movie :lol2:
all language-la family padam pudikkin
tharunKobi - kuduththa vElaiya kachchidhamA senjadhaa dhaan thONichu.
Seeman as the paasam-kObam pongum brother - also works well.
When Singampuli asks TG in the end of the movie, if he can lift him - how to they anticipate if such moments will work or not?
I wouldn't be surprised if some people found that funny and overdone.
ellArum solRIngaLEnnu muththukku muththAga-lErndhu kAlaila sila scenes kettEn/pAththEn. Felt the same way as mAyANdi kudumbaththAr (which I've seen in bits and pieces earlier, saw some scenes this past weekend too). Almost entirely templatized. For instance, the same 'logic' of Tarun Gopi doing something 'extra' to a relative and the relative repenting is repeated multiple times (in mAyaNdi kudumbaththAr). Exceptions of Ilavarasu, Saranya et al. aside, the performances don't add any value either.
singampuli's best performance till date...
and seeman, i thought it was a matured performance...
as pr says, tg did his part well... aana vera yarayachum pOtrukkalaam...
My vote in this terrain goes to Thangar Bachan who can be very effective. Better than Cheran in my books.
Naan
very good thriller ,kept me hooked completely..Jeeva shankar and Vijay Antony ..
naan...
well written movie... unexpectedly brilliant to the current standards.
