not commenting on tamil films..Dilwale has really done exceptionally well here..Never witness any films where screens were added in the second week..Halls were packed even on weekdays..In the charts, from 4th place behind Thangamagan, then overtook TM in the 2nd week at 3rd and this week still at no.3 position and TM is out of the chart..Malays are going crazy over Kajol SRK pairing..ithaku peru thaan massss.. :)Quote:
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Dilwale" may have failed to set new collection benchmarks at key centres, but the Bollywood flick has certainly set the box office on fire in Malaysia. Surprisingly, it has even beaten some of the big records set by Tamil films there.
As per Bollywood Hungama, "Dilwale" has done business of Rs 3.86 crore (MYR 25,19,454) by the end of its third weekend from 26 screens. It is a new record, and also means the Hindi movie has beaten the record of recent hit films "Vedalam", which earned around Rs 3.75 crore, and Vijay's "Kaththi", which had done a lifetime business of Rs 3.80 crore in the country.
In the first weekend, "Dilwale" had minted Rs 26.68 lakh from 10 screens. The audience response to the movie was good, and hence the number of screens was increased to 14 soon. The movie earned Rs 1.20 crore in the next seven days to take its 10-day collection to Rs 1.48 crore.
The best was in store for "Dilwale" after the second weekend, as the screen count was increased to 26. It reflected in the collections, as the film made record-breaking collections of Rs 2.38 crore in the next seven days to take the tally to Rs 3.86 crore.
Malaysia has been predominantly good for Tamil movies. but only handful of Hindi films has done notable business there in the recent years. Shah Rukh Khan's previous movie, "Happy New Year", could only make Rs 72.51 lakh, said Bollywood Hungama. Salman Khan's 2015 blockbuster "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" had earned only Rs 41.10 lakh there.
However, we have to wait to see whether "Dilwale" beats the record of Vikram's "I", which had done a business of Rs 6.10 crore in Malaysia.
this is the real record breaker..the power of Malays :) movie has opened in maxx halls which is the largest movie hall..another record
