M4e agosh.... did one great song in
kodieswaran called Tholaivinile.
the song that u r talking about is by S.A.Rajkumar
**cut and paste**
AGOSH - is a three person composer/band group,
much like shankar, ehsaan & loy.
AGOSH comprises of Anandh (guitarist), GOpal Rao(vocalist - nooru aandu ku oru murai pookkinra poo allava - under vidyasaagar, oh
love attack centrury podum love attach - under
a.r.rahman), SHaleen (drummer).
They also composed music, which was fairly successful for the hindi movie 'ZOR' and the
tamizh movie 'Harishchandra'
Senty, I should have referred to the song in Harishchandra, which I actually wanted to talk about:) It goes like "Naadodi paatttu paada thandhana thandhan thaalam; Naadengum ... nenjinil aasaigal modhum.
So Agosh is three instead of one! Thanks, Senty.
Senty -
There is a BIG one (ok,two) missing in the Mythila/Saravanan list of Vijayabhaskar classics:
"Ennada Polladha Vaazhka..."
SPBs "alattal" in this solo is unmatched. From Thappuththaalangal.
Anbu Megame (VJ-SPB) from Engamma Sabadham.
Two songs. Limitless memories :-)
(BTW, most of the VJ & VJ-SPB songs for Vijayabhaskar are available at www.vanijairam.com)
The above post should have been addressed to Senty and M4E. It is now :-)
Naaz,
idhukku pOyee alattikalaama..huh :-)
Saravanan,
The answer is there in my post itself. because of the heat I was wishing it were margazhi.. that is another way of saying Hi Hi ... (arasu style!)
Of course we don't like pratap song ... because we are talking of ripe succulent ones... i am talking here only of the fruit... believe me!
"Varuvai mohana roopan
la la laa la la la lalla lalla laala la laa "- help me , am not going beyond this. A beautiful bhagesri by SJ. MD? film?
Vengayam :))
Mythila- Ponnoonjal (1973/ Gomathishankar Films) Kannadasan, MSV.
Naaz thanxs for reminding a great song...
here it is... :)
http://web.music.coolgoose.com/music/song.php?id=72658
Ponnoonjal! The song that immediately imposes upon me is the famous
Aagaya pandhalilE
ponnoonjal Aduthamma
Believe it was that unforgettable TMS-PS combination.
The song that still stands tall among other good ones:
Bharadhi kannamma
neeyE chinnamma
kELadi ponnamma
adhisaya malar mugam
dinasari pala ragam
aayinum ennamma
thEn mozhi sollamma
bharadhi kannamma
neeyE chinnamma
There was a time, though, when I preferred the (seemingly) more lively numbers like "yaadhum oorE yaavarum kELir", "namma ooru singari", and "EngEyum eppodhum sangeetham santhosham" etc.
Vintage MSV weaving his magical musical treat in that movie "NinaithalE inikkum". It proved nothing but plain bravado in the era that solely belonged to IR, though.
senty, vgs ungalukku lyrics provide pannina ethana lakh promise panna poreenga? :-))
M4E, IMO ninaithAlE inikkum is one of the greatest albums ever. one of my favourites as well.
prabhu,
stock market crash anathuley i lost couple of millions...so let me recover from it.Erkanavey IMF saravannanukku neraya thara vendiyathu irrukku :(.
Thanks Sara :)
Sriram, NinaithalE Inikkum was a musical treat no doubt. Sambo sivasambo sivasambo!
Mannikka Maataaya
Un manamirangi
Nee oru medhai
naan oru pedhai
nee tharum sodhanai
naan padum vedhanai
podhum podhum podhum
KJY singing under the baton of MSV. There was a song in the movie Annamalai which reminded me of the above number. The one where Rajni philosophizes.
The Annamalai song is
Oru penn pura
kanneeril ...
......
enna mayamo
...
Mannikka maataya is from the movie Janani produced by Gemini(?) trying to make a comback. Nethaji directed this one with new faces. Saravanan, as usual, should be able to give more details.
Surya, you're right. Janani- 1985 was an unsuccessful attempt from Gemini. The film starred newcomers Udayakumar & Bhavya. (Incidentally, there was great demand for the name Bhavya in 1985, the heroine of Geetanjali was also called Bhavya, and the Janani heroine ambitiously called herself Gemini Bhavya!!)
'Konjum malar manjam' (SPB/VJ), 'aadurathu endha'(SPB/SJ), 'mannikka maataaya' (KJY & PS versions ) and 'Naattu sarakkidhu' (MV/Saibaba) were the songs. Music: MSV. Lyrics by Netaji (I think)
Thanks, Surya and Sara. Sara, can you list the songs in the movie Agni Saatchi? Thanks in advance :) I recall only one now:
Kanaa kaanum kangal mella
urangaadho paadal solla
....
Music4Ever
Agnisakshi had the following songs
1) vanakkam muthal variyaiezhudhum by PS,SPB
2) a Stage drama song(kannaki,madhavi) by PS,VJ,MSV
3) Adiye kannama by PS
Thanks, raj.
Utterly fascinated by these REGAL songs:
1. Naan Paadum Paadal, Nalamaaga Vendum;
2. Engey Aval
3. Unnai Kaanatha Kannum Kannnalla (Just perfect, perfect)
4. Nee Ennana Sonaallum Kavidhai

I am also enjoying Anvandhan Manithan songs, revelation sir.....
SARAVANAN,

Avanthaan Manithan has some wonderful songs...
1. engirundhO oru kural vandhadhu
2. oonjalukku poo chooti
3. Manithan ninaippathuNdu vaazhvu
AVM's Uyarndha uLLam ( Kamal, Ambika, Radharavi) has shades of Avanthaan Manithan.
Surya, add:
4. Anbu nadamaadum kalaikkoodame
5. aatuvithaal yaaroruvar
Saravanan -
Why am I caught in this hilarious loop (a "chaadu" carry-over? hangover? over??)I know not, but this song is rooming in my head for the last 48 hours -
Maaruvadhu Society
Ullagam Pala Variety
Theduvadhu Beauty
(???) En Duty
(I am sure this is not an ARR comp :-)) as it was sung by LRE from some 60s film?)
What a "looty" of song!! Any details?
reminds me of some old looty song... dont know which movie
1)Jolly life, jolly life
kalyanam panna
jolly life ....
(bramachari ??)
2)chappathi....
chappathi thaan
rotti rotti thaan
(nawab narkali)
3)vaa vadhyarey utanda
nee varangatti nan udamaten
jambajar jaggu
nan saidapettai kokku
senty, 3rd is Manorama's first song from Bommalaattam - recently got wind of this on FM
Saravanan, isn't Avandhan Manithan first Stereo audio?
Surya: Oonjalukku poo chooti is such a joyful complsotion!!!!
3. Manithan ninaippathuNdu vaazhvu
AVM's Uyarndha uLLam ( Kamal, Ambika, Radharavi) has shades of Avanthaan Manithan.
From: Saravanan (@ 213.42.2.11) on: Fri May 28 10:09:01 EDT 2004
Surya, add:
4. Anbu nadamaadum kalaikkoodame (this is the fantastic duet I am talking about, IR gave something like that in Anthapurathiloru Magarani for Sivaji. Super duets, both)
5. aatuvithaal yaaroruvar
Those days, what made these composers do original stuff is what I find amazing. Their belief in the strenght of the carnatic system versus today' composers belief in loops and foreign sounding Tamil. It is good as long as you can get a mix of classical tunes and modern sounds. Is it because our today's composers have no strong classical music grounding like MSV and KVM or is it because they think Indian classical music is not useful?
Music4ever: Maragada Megham is by SP-PS from "Megatthukkum Daagamundu". It also had SP-VJ and SP-SJ duets. Talking of Ninaithale Inikkum, two short but sweet songs went largely unnoticed:
Nizhal Kandavan, What a waiting!
RR
RR,
What a waiting!
was indeed superbly sung by SPB!
there was another song by SPB for the greatest actor Shivaji, the song goes like this 'My love is for you, my life is for you, guess who', some funny song, any body know the name of the movie ??
Raghu- it is 'My song is for you, my love is for you'- from Paattum Bharathamum.
RR, how can one forget that "waiting" song in NI?
KaathirundhEn kaathirundhEn
kaadhal manam nogum varai
paarthirundhaL paarthirundhaL
pachai kiLi saatchi solla
followed by a guitar (?) piece. There was one more song by LRE. Ananda thaandavamo? I don't remember the nizhal kandavan bit though :) Thanks for the Maragadha megam info.
amazing guitar piece in "what a waiting". pink floyd meets dire straits meets santana. as I said, that album is just fantastic.
Saravanan,
Thanks 4 the info, I did not realy like that song on first time listening, is this available any where on line, who was the heroine of that film, which year was that film released, I suppose Shivaji did a double role right??
Sriram,
Guitar was more amazing in the following songs, in my opinion
1) Engeyum eppothum sangeetham
2) En iniya pon nilave
3) Enadi Meenakshi sonnathu enachu
4) sampo sivasambo
