Actually I have only seen some parts of White Balloon - which I liked very much. So I have no reason to dislike Panahi or anything.
podhuvA, indha political filmmakers, artist-activist types rub my cynical side off a lot. I heard about non-film film, and got annoyed immediately. Hence the blow when I got a whisker of a chance.

Non-actors-ai vachchu, documentary-style-la feature film edukkuRadhaip paththi unga karuththu?
You get annoyed easily. You haven't even seen it!
Isn't documentary one of the easily imbibed story-telling mediums than feature films? Of course, there's something meta- when a film straddles between both, especially when the filmmaker's a master of both 'modes'. That a documentary is in itself a carefully edited altered 'version' (or 'presentation') of 'truth' is a given and we've gone there before.
A filmmaker is supposed to create a near-reality. Capturing it documentary style is a 'lesser' art IMO. And when that is being applauded on par, because of the political circumstances, that prejudices me against it.
Always using non-actors, writing directly on celluloid - alll viewed with similar suspicion.
Kurosawa - happy accidents are welcome, else everything is exactly what I want it to be - is more like it.
But I beg to differ. So grotesquely that I'd rather be smashed on my face, repeatedly, with a fire extinguisher.
Moving on, I saw Columbo 7th season 1st episode "Try and catch me". The sinister neighbor of Rosemary's baby, the eccentric Maude who eloped with Harold with a good turn again. And easily one of the better episodes in midway slope of the series..
Which one of you kind gentlemen will explain Le Samouraļ to me?
Men in Black - 3 at INOX(Mantri Square ??). Went to watch Avengers but settled for MIB-3 and I was pleasantly surprised. Josh Brolin is a great addition to the supporting cast and boy he did great. Smith as usual is very funny and very good. Attaboy Philly homey. Eminently watchable for good lead performances, IMO.
^ Will be watching the movie this weekend....Btw how is the use of 3D.....Hate movies which have no actual use for the 3D, but release it in the format....
