But DVD copies of Thalapathi distributed by many other companies are available in the market.
Yes.. Dhalapathi+Annamalai DVD available at 65Rs i think.. I have one.. bought at Musicworld in Bangalore
Oh great, Dalphathy leading now. Post panna panna antha side eeruthu. Sari viduvom...end of the day, victory goes to Rajini.
Anyway I actually got the sequences all wrong. The second brush with the engineer actually took place after this scene. A memorable scene, indeed.
Mullum Malarum Campaign
Day 3
The Dance
So, there he was, Kaali and his own group of useless pals, hanger ons, misfits, at a roadside tea stall. And its not tea that Kali had just drank. He is obviously drunk as a skunk and is engaged in one of the favourite topic for conversation – bitching about the engineer, or Law Point.
Lo and behold, in comes a group of unsuspecting players of Nadhaswaram and Melam….and they couldn’t have picked up worst day, time and location. Kali stops them and asks where they are going…they say they are going to the supervisor’s sister’s wedding and we learn that the engineer is presiding over the wedding.
Kali: Namma oorukaarangga ellam sutta kabothingga.
Allakai: Yeenee?
Kali: Toolu konjam vellaiyaa (the reason that engineer is popular for him) irukka koodathu avvan veellaikaarannu nenekkirangga
Saying that he erupts in laughter….the other laughs along with him…he stops them, they stop, and seeing the minions have stopped laughing, he continues laughing, and they do the same. A silly show of power in his side. Meanwhile, the Nadhaswaram gosti moves…
Kali: Ennane avasaram?
Nadaswaram: Mugurthathukku neeramachu. Avanngga kaattiruppangga.
Kali: Irukkatum, yeavan veenaannu sonna. Nalla Naal athuvumaa, inggeyum rendu tattu tattiddu ponnga…(pammufies) Vasingga samy (no response, tries again) vaasingga samy (no deal, its Kali time) VassinggaDA DEY!”
What transpires will go into the anal of the global film industry as one of the worst dances from this side of hemisphere. But it is a dance of a booze head; a man drunk with his own miniscule power with army of knuckleheads looking on admiringly as he moves his hips, throws his hand around moving from one end of the bench to the other, a dance that has to be to be seen to be believed. I truly believe dance master Sundaram carefully shielded this piece of monstrosity from his growing sons.
In this scene, we see Rajini again demonstrating his range, realistically looking drunk, very unpredictable (as we learn more later) and soaking up very the respect that he gets from the allakais and the way he sits on the stall bench like a king and later not realising he was making fool of himself doing that unco-ordinated shuffle that he thinks is dance. Again, Rajini was totally in character here. :D

By the way, CR, VAM's role is quiet meaty and risky, if you ask me. He has affair with Mayandi (Kaali's alakkai) wife and later is asked by the ego-blinded Kali to marry his own sister!!!! His last scene was pretty scary....you wouldn't want to see your beloved comedian under Kali's foot...literally, don't you? :(
 Yeah, I had this scene in mind when I revisited MM recently. But trust me, SR and GM danced way better than Rajini here :lol:Quote:
