But, jaiganes, I do not think Mani and KH set out to make an Oscar quality film. I don't ever think KH would start a film thinking that it is Oscar (or Art Film) material, given all the commercial interests that get attached to his movies. They just ended up with a great product with all aspects blending in nicely, including the camera work, art work and of course, music. Backed up by a good story (influenced by God Father and yesteryear Indian Don) and screenplay, phenomenal acting and good direction, the film is a gem, still talked about today. Which begs the question: Why dwell on the negative aspects and personalized attacks on the producer?
