Vijay 58: A 100-crore budget; 200-day call sheet from Vijay
Director Chimbudevan’s upcoming film with Vijay, a fantasy entertainer, is reported to be made at a lavish budget of 100 crores. Sources say Ilayathalapathy has allocated a bulk 200-day call sheet for the film. The shooting will commence in Kerala by November and will span for over nine months before the makers kickstart post-production work. The film’s second schedule will be shot in Mysore and third and fourth schedules are planned in Tamil Nadu and North India (Darjeeling, Kulu Manali) respectively. The team will tour abroad for the final schedule, says a source.
Starring Vijay, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani in lead roles, the film also has Sudeep and Sridevi Boney Kapoor in important roles. Produced by Vijay’s long-term associate PT Selvakumar and Thameens, it has music by Devi Sri Prasad.
GRAND PALACE SET FOR VIJAY 58!
Vijay’s Kaththi is all set for a Diwali showdown post the censors, but the makers are maintaining things low-key to ensure a smooth release. Though Vijay had earlier stated that he will start his next film soon after Kaththi’s shoot, he has decided to take the next step after Kaththi’s release. The shoot for Vijay58 will kickstart sometime next month, after the star takes a little breather after Kaththi.
Sources say that a huge set is being erected in a village near Mahabalipuram. The set which is being constructed in the form of a grand palace, stretches for about 100 acres. Art director Muthuraj is said to be meticulously working with his team to bring out a royal look as many important scenes will be shot inside this palace.
Directed by Chimbudevan, Vijay 58 has Vijay, Shruti Hassan, Hansika, Kiccha Sudeepa and Sridevi in the main starcast. Music will be composed by Devi Sri Prasad while camerawork will be taken care of by Natty.

Dsp best was something something. However, this is an exciting project.
More than MD, personally I feel the bigger risk is giving the directorial baton to someone like Chimbudevan for a big budget project such as this. If the director was someone like Shankar or ARM, it's worth taking the risk. But we ll see...hope Chimbudevan proves me wrong.
