Rasiya from Mangal pandey. When this album released, every critic was criticizing that song, someone even said that Rahman must have composed it in his sleep.
But what a wonderful song it is! Best song from the album actually.

"Thendrale Thendrale" and "Oh Vennila" (KAdhal Desam) - While this is well appreciated among Rahman-fan circles i think it didn't get the due it deserved
Thendrale is underrated yes, but i see people listening to O Venilla even now. Just that ppl are more vocal abt their interest towards Musthaffa and other songs.Quote:

Fantastic songs, but not so popular.

Songs from Puthiya Manargal...Almost all the people I know can only remember one song from the film...nee kathum selai.
I really think that vaadi sathukodi was the most underrated songs of ARR. And what brilliant composition...the song starts on a fast beat and just right after the interlude, the charanam moves on a slow pace..one could almost sense the classical touch of ARR here and then, the song picks up again with the chorus "pathampoochi parakum..." Amazing!
Vaanil yenni pothu was really inspiring as well... the drum beat at the beginning followed by the trumpet sound...and what lyrics, man! oru boghi pandigai nadathu, pazhaye panjangathai kolethu...:notworthy:
