Sivaji's audio is breaking records after records. The film is also reported to be in the finishing stages with work on background score and sound effects going on. The release date is tentatively fixed on 17th of May. What else could be a better reason for a celebration? After all, the movie had been in the making for more than a year now.
Shankar made the call and threw a party to honor the sound recordists and engineers who had contributed towards success of the audio. The party was at the Shankar's 'Shanki' farmhouse at Neelankarai. Shankar, the name is synonymous with grandeur, not only in movies but also in personal life; the party which began during the late hours of April 4th went on till the wee hours of the next day.
Shankar, Superstar and AVM Saravanan though reported by few dailies as present in the party had not participated. "The party was more of a thanks giving event for the technicians involved in the audio and the re-recording of the movie", says a reliable insider.
Everyone present preferred to lose themselves in the joy of the moment. There must have been a generous offering of drinks as the events that took place later substantiate. Many of the guests were too intoxicated to drive home themselves and decided to put up at the farm house and leave in the morning after they had become sober. But, they woke up to a shocking sight late next morning. A person was found dead inside the swimming pool of the farm house. He was later identified as Sachidanandan @ Sachu (45), chief sound engineer by his assistant Lingam. The police were informed after the body was taken out of the pool. From the look of things, Sachidanandan had apparently fallen into the pool in a state of intoxication and was unable to call for any help. However the police have not given any official statement. The body was then sent to the Royappettah hospital for autopsy. The report is awaited. Sachidanandan is survivied by wife Kokila (35), daughter Revathy (11) and son Maithreyan (7).
What a crap? is this true at all?
yov, 4-adi swimming pool-a 6-adi aalu muzhugi sathhadhellam konjam over-a theriyalada??? .......avalavu bodhaya irundhirukkum........anga supplier, server boy, yaarumae irundhurukka maattangala??chaa, ivanga karpanai thiranakku orae alavae illayada??
btw, some similarities in lyrics of anniyan and Shivaji:
kadhal pachondhi, raavil boochandi - randakka (Anniyan)
man man man super man naan, midnightla spiderman dhaan - Athiradee (Shivaji)
pookkal vedikindra sten gun remo - remo (anniyan)
gun gun yen sten gun, roger moore polae - Athiradee (Shivaji)
i saw some bloggers review on Sivaji... a guy rated it the last of Shankar's movies.... hmmm.... but when he reviewed one by one for the songs, it was good.... :?
hmmmm....
From the songs, can we guess anything about the story line of the film?? Lyrics la laam i am a spiderman, jetix, pogo nu rajini paaduraru??? and in adhiradee song, sutakka thakka chakka damaal dumeel nu kuzhandhaingalaku
boochandi kaamikara mathiri iruku?
Looks like Rajini is like a superman or some comic hero kindaa??
Nope rsubras....if theres one thing shankar is good at...its making sure his songs dunt give away the storyline...all the songs except balilekka and the boss could fit into even a romantic movie...so theres suspense here...tentatively...there is supposed to be a double role(father and son) by rajini and rumours flying around its actually 7...so wait and see :D
i agree....Gentleman, Kadhalan, Indian, Mudhalvan, Jeans, Anniyan songs had not given away even 10% of the movie's storyline... except BOYS i guess... Saregama & Please Sir was a sure thing to show overall wut is the movie about.... :)Quote:

Something ARR was doing during his peak period and even with Boys. So, That won't fit in the angle of Em-Magan and Varalaaru.
and Coming to the point of Dinesh, judging any album as "Good" is pretty subjective. That is what I tried to remind him. for e.g., when I heard "Perunthil Nee enakku jannal Oram song", It was incredible for me to believe that the MD was "Dina". You have said the same. "You got to be sportive. The audio is a record breaker now (as per the articles posted in this thread  ) Then why should u prove that. Sivaji songs may or may not please people who worshipped NYN, MV etc  But as u guys said, it is "SUBJECTIVE".

[tscii]I know sivaji has seen much more success than this but anyhow all 7 songs on top: http://www.musicindiaonline.com/music/ut/s/tamil/10/
Here is a review from the same site:
Audio Review : Sivaji – A R Rahman for Rajini fans
Producer: A V M
Director: Shankar
Cast: Rajnikanth, Shriya Sharan
Music: A R Rahman
Singers: Blaaze, Suresh Peters, Chinmayi, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam, S P Balasubramaniam, Rehanah Benny, Rags, Tanvi, Vijay Jesudas, Gomathi Sri, Madhusree, Naresh Iyer, Raqueeb Alam
So, the most-awaited film of the year has arrived. ‘Sivaji’ brings all the big names in Kollywood together. People involved with the film includes reputed AVM banner, director Shankar, composer A R Rahman, lyricists Valee, Vairamuthu, Pa Vijay and Muthukumar, cinematographer K V Anand, dialogue writer Sujatha, art director Thotta Tharani, choreographers Prabhudeva, Raju Sundaram, Lawrence and Brinda. Above all, superstar Rajnikanth plays the lead role in it with Shriya Saran as his heroine. You just can’t ask for a better team than this. Music maestro A R Rahman knows his job really well. He has composed good music that matches the image of the hero. Lyricists too made full use of Rajini’s screen image.
The foot-tapping number “Balleilakka” sets right momentum for the album. It is beautifully rendered by S P Balasubramaniam and Rehanah Benny accompanied by soothing chorus. The fast pace of the song towards the end makes S P B sound breathless. A cocktail of fast beats and faint melodies in between is heard. Lyricist Na Muthukumar praises Tamilnadu and its people for the friendly relation with neighbors. He also portrays the hero in a larger-than-life image by comparing him to the sun, moon and Shiva, the destroyer. Do you think the hero can turn Tamilnadu into America? The song says he can.
“Oru Koodal Sunlight” is a racy number with lyrics penned by Pa Vijay. It is a fragmented number with bits of phrases and has a few coined names like 'heerathihero’ for the hero of the film. Rags, Tanvi, Suresh Peters and Blaze have sung this fast number, which has heavy beats. Tanvi's whispery rendition has given it a sensuous touch.
“Sahana Saral Thoovutho” is a melodious duet number well rendered by Udit Narayan and Chinmayi. Good chorus and western instrumentation accompany it. Vairamuthu's lyrics have freshness and originality. It is a good song.
The second version of “Sahana” is full of pain and pathos. Vijay Jesudass rendition is soulful and Gomathi Sri’s voice too has an identity of its own though she sounds a bit babyish. This number is much better than the first version but it is not included in the cassettes.
The number “Vaji Vaji” is the title track of the album with pleasing rhythm, good instrumentation, fast beats, lively chorus and melodious tunes. Hariharan and Madhusree have sung it beautifully and Vairamuthu's lyrics are fine too. It could become a chartbuster.
“Vata Vata” is the theme song rendered by Blaze, Naresh Iyer and Raqueeb Alam. It begins in hip-hop style and then shifts to rap. Lyricist Na Muthukumar once again praises the strength of the superhero.
Music maestro Rahman lends his voice for the concluding track “Athiradi”. Solo guitar and Rahman's high-pitched voice will make big impact among the listeners. Lyricist Valee has used titles of Rajini’s films and English words in the lyrics. This heavy number will surely go to the dancing floor. In short, this is a chartbuster in the making.
Rajini fans will have great time listening to the songs of the album, as they go in sync with the hero’s image. Rahman's music grows on you as you listen to them repeatedly. Except for the number “Athiradi”, the rest have nothing special on offer. However, the present generation will love it.

I feel the songs are pretty ordinary except for Sahanaa - the Vijay Yesudass version. I dont know why MDs are still trying Udit Narayanan to sing Tamil songs when there are many better singers. He struggles in the upper octave in this. SPB's song is more like Kabadi k kabadi k kabadi k kabadi - particularly towards the end of the song. All in all an ordinary show by ARR. Let us wait for the movie to see the picturisation. lot of times the songs might be much better with video than in the audio.
Anand, unmai... but i noticed many people, when they review the song sololy, they will be praising the song... but when it comes to conclusion, they give a bad expression... like " this song is excellent " "This shows y ARR is one of the best in the bussines " and finnaly they conclude it as " Not an extraodanaire album "...
y????? when they can see beauty in 1 song by its own, y when to conclude overall they stabb the album on the back ??? this is not the only 1... ive came accross many reviews on Sivaji already which r like that....
is it becoz they feel bitter to accept the fact Sivaji actually sounded excellent after few listenin which def Anniyan & CM failed when it got released at 1st ....
Selva, i feel its so biased.... that person mentioned Guru had lukewarm respons... and Shankar opted HJ for Anniyan .... wut is the link there?!! !!
huh ??? Udit's couldnt perfrom well in Sahana ??? when i listened to Udit here...i was WOW !! Vijay.J's version was quite bad compared to the original thanks to some 'out of tune' renderatino by him... listen to 1:32 - 1:44 ... he actually couldnt stick with the pitch.... which was performed BETTER by Udit at that particular octave section.... :roll:Quote:

Shankar didint want to experiment with HJ in Anniyan becoz he badly need a hit after that bad BO of Boys .... so for songs it was a clear cut he refered back to his old fimls/albums .... cant blame HJ for just giving a typical Shankar album, thats y it didnt face much objection as wut Sivaji is facing now...people was familar with the styles of the songs......
do not be shock if u listen to replicas of Sunlight or Sahana or Vaaji near future... that time... u people will say " Ohh... Rahman set the trend again " ... :!:
Mr.Dinesh, I am definitely not biased. I only talk abt the music not the star value of ARR or Rajni. Even in Guru in every forum I mention about "Ye manburu Mangaiye" song by Srinivas and Sujatha(a real gem from ARR) but nobody mentions that. Of course not worth comparing HJ with genius like ARR. even my comments on Sivaji are after some 5-10 hearings only. I am open to change after many more if they sound good & particularly with the video.

My opinion would be :
The album is "WAY AHEAD" of all other "ARR - Rajini" albums ! :)
The album is a "Below Average One" when u take "ARR - Shankar" albums as the baseline.
That is the price u got to pay if u need a successful + quality album for a Rajini movie :)
Disgr:
just to show that the reviewer was pretty biased on his "general" comments on ARR.....HT,Bhopal confirms the collection figures of Guru: 8-)

Maddy... thanks for that link.... a good proof to show that reviewer just must be vaitherichal that ARR proved them wrong yet AGAIN by composing scores which are out of the world... :)
i think the reviewer is definitely a hc hj fan. why else would he bring anniyan songs in here? god....
Don't worry too much about negatie reviews guys. As long as we like the songs y shud we break our heads regarding the negative reviews

there r some songs that are supposed to be sung like that! most english songs u cant understand the lyrics, but still ppl listen to it. why do u think there is a lyrics booklet included with the original cd? maybe if u bought the original cd then u might have seen it  , anyways listen to the songs while reading the booklet and then after that u will understand and u will LOVE the songs. mark my words
but that could be understood by english people! :lol:Quote:
