This is a proof for how Shobha might have ruled the hearts of the lady audience of those days. I have lost the count on the number of times my mother blamed balu mahendra for her death. Ennapaa ithu.. ! The words will also come out of frustration and genuine care for Shobha. (everytime)

So many replies and yet none on Revathy ! I really like the range of her performances be it the early Kai Kodukkum Kai/Mouna Raagam years or the later Marupadiyum/Avathaaram/Ab tak Chappan years. She is also fantastic in her Malayalam movies - Kaattathe KiLikkoodu by Bharathan and Devasuram where she really holds her own against Lal, Nedumudi Venu and Innocent, are just 2 examples.

Rohini is another thinking actress who does justice to what is given to her. She really got scant respect in the early years but to do both Magalir mattum and Virumandi shows a certain level of skill.

Oorvasi is without a doubt the top choice when it comes to comedic skills.

I enjoy specific performances by Shobhana. Her dance abilities served her well in Manichithrathazhu, but as a stoic spinster in Pakshe she is excellent.

My fav in the recent list is Simran (Vaali/Parthen Rasithen/Kannathil Muthamittal/PKS/Priyamanavale)/Meera Jasmine in Run (more for her roles in Malayalam), Jyothika (Mozhi/Perazhagan/Kaaka Kaaka/Dumm Dumm Dumm/Kushi/Mugavari) and Shalini (Kadhalukku Mariyadhai/Alaipayuthey and some movies in Malayalam)

In the not so recent - Revathi (Anjali/Mouna Ragam/Marupadiyum/Devar Magan/Arangetravelai/Kizhakku Vasal/Punnagai Mannan and many more in Malayalam), Amala (Vettrivizha/Agninatchathiram/Mella Thirandhadhu Kadhavu), Shobana(Manichithrathazhu and lots more in Malayalam and Thalapathi), Sridevi(Moonram Pirai/16 Vayadhinile/Sigappu Rojakkal/Johnny etc) and Suhasini (Sindhu Bhairavi/En Bommukutty Ammavukku/Palaivana Solai)

Havent seen any movies of Shobha fully - but i've seen some scenes of her - very good actress and yeah in my house too the KWA episode of BM was showered with 'praises' :P

Apart from that some roles immediately coming to mind are Girija in Geethanjali/Asin in Ghajini/Aishwarya Rai :P (brahmin girl) in Jeans/Laila in Pithamagan/Bhanupriya in Azhagan and Thalapathi/Priyamani in Paruthiveeran/Thamanna in Kalloori/Gouthami in Kuruthipunal/Oorvasi in MMKR etc etc
