Most letters published in that page have come from Karnataka (with a known issue against TN and have often officially and ruthlessly attacked innocent people in Bangalore in the name of Kaveri, mimicking the SL gov). They cannot be expected to have much concern for the suffering ones in SL anyways.
By selectively publishing them, The Hindu is exhibiting its bias as well as similar unconcerned attitude for the predominantly elderly, women and children trapped in the war zone.
It's a shame that the newspaper has its roots in TN:-(

சிறிலங்கா தரைப்படையினர் ஆட்டிலெறி எறிகணை, கொத்துக்குண்டு எறிகணை மற்றும் மோட்டார் தாக்குதல்களை நடத்தி வருவதுடன் பீரங்கி சூட்டுத் தாக்குதலையும் நடத்தியுள்ளனர்.
சிறிலங்கா கடற்படையினரும் மக்கள் குடியிருப்புக்கள் மீது செறிவான ரொக்கட் ஆட்டிலெறித் தாக்குதலையும் நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.
இதேவேளையில் முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் மக்கள் வாழ்விடங்கள் மீது சிறிலங்கா வான்படையின் வானூர்திகள் இன்று குண்டுத்தாக்குதலை நடத்தியுள்ளன.
இன்று திங்கட்கிழமை பிற்பகல் 1:30 நிமிடம் தொடக்கம் பிற்பகல் 2:00 மணிவரை 4 தடவைகள் 8 குண்டுகள் வீசப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன் 16 ரொக்கட்டுக்களும் ஏவப்பட்டுள்ளன.
முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் மருத்துவமனை மீது இன்று அதிகாலை 1:00 மணியளவில் சிறிலங்கா படையினர் நடத்திய ஆட்லெறி எறிகணைத் தாக்குதலில் 6 தமிழர்கள் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதுடன் 11 பேர் படுகாயமடைந்துள்ளனர்.
சூழவுள்ள பகுதிகளில் நடத்தப்பட்ட எறிகணைத் தாக்குதல்களில் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்களின் 25 உடலங்கள் இன்று காலை மருத்துவமனைக்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டன.
சிறிலங்கா கடற்படையினர் இன்று காலை தொடக்கம் நடத்திய ரொக்கட் தாக்குதல்களில் 47 தமிழர்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டதுடன் காயமடைந்த நிலையில் 56 பேர் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
சிறிலங்கா வான்படையினரின் குண்டுத் தாக்குதல்களில் 32 தமிழர்கள் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டதுடன் 46 பேர் காயமடைந்தனர்.
வான்படையினரின் தாக்குதல்களில் மக்கள் தங்கியிருந்த 12 தற்காலிக கூடாரங்கள் அழிந்துள்ளன. சிறிலங்கா வான்படையினர் ஏவிய பரா வெளிச்சக்குண்டு தற்காலிக கூடாரம் ஒன்றின்மீது வீழ்ந்ததில் எரிந்து நாசமாகியுள்ளது.
கூடாரத்துக்குள் இருந்த 5 தமிழர்கள் உடல் கருகி உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர்.
பட்டினியால் 12 தமிழர்கள் பலி
இது இவ்வாறிருக்க, சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கத்தின் பொருளாதாரத் தடையினால் ஏற்பட்ட பட்டினி அவலத்தினால் கடந்த 7 நாட்களில் மட்டும் 12 பேர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர்.
பட்டினியால் மயக்கமடைந்து நட்டாங்கண்டல் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தவர்களில் 12 பேரே இவ்வாறு உயிரிழந்தனர். இவர்களில் 6 பேர் சிறுவர்கள்.
வறுமையினால் நோய் வாய்ப்பட்டு மயக்கமடைந்த நிலையில் மருத்துவமனையில் பலர் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக பொறுப்பு வாய்ந்த மருத்துவர் ஒருவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
பட்டினியால் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளவர்களில் அதிகமானோருக்கு உடல் மெலிந்து எலும்புகள் தெரிவதாகவும் நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தி இவர்களின் உடலில் இல்லை என்றும் பொறுப்பு வாய்ந்த மருத்துவர் மேலும் தெரிவித்தார்.
இதேவேளையில் அவசரமாக சிகிச்சையளிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய 500 நோயாளர்கள் முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் தற்காலிக மருத்துவமனையில் அனைத்துலக செஞ்சிலுவைச் சங்கத்தின் கப்பலுக்காக காத்திருக்கின்றனர்.
ஆனால், முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் பகுதிக்கு கப்பல் செல்வதற்கு சிறிலங்கா படைத்தரப்பு அனுமதி மறுத்து வருகின்றது.
நாளை அல்லது நாளை மறுநாள் என்று கூறி காலம் கடத்துவதாக வன்னியில் இருந்து 'புதினம்' செய்தியாளர் தெரிவிக்கின்றார்.
இதனால், நோயாளர்கள் அவதிப்படுகின்றனர். காயங்களுக்கு ஏற்ற மருந்து வகைகளையும் சிறிலங்கா படைத்தரப்பு முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் பகுதிக்கு கொண்டு செல்லவிடாது தடுக்கின்றது.
பொருளாதாரத் தடையுடன் அத்தியாவசிய மருந்துப் பொருட்களுக்கும் தடை விதிக்கப்படுவதனால் பல வழிகளிலும் சிறிலங்கா அரசாங்கம் தமிழர்களை கொலை செய்து வருகின்றது என்றும் 'புதினம்' செய்தியாளர் தெரிவிக்கின்றார்.

True. But consider this: a vote for the DMK does not necessarily mean a vote for Cong. If BJP is the likely winning combination in the centre DMK will shift alliances post-poll and take part in that government. (I somehow feel this is what is going to happen). On the other hand, a vote for the Left Parties is likely to lead to a re-election of a Cong govt.
So one should ideally vote based on the parties in one's constituency than the alliance.
