Laksmanji,
In the first line of 'vaduvaraiyai', is it nANAkki, or is it nArAkki?
I assumed it was the latter, because vAsuki served as the cord for the khIrasAgara manthanam.
And I think in the Pallavi of the next song, 'shiva, shiva', it should read 'mamAparAdham kshamasva' (tvam is left unsaid), and not 'khamasya'.
Ravi
Thanks for the corrections Ravi.

Can anyone help in giving the name of the composer of the following song in Tamil:
pitthanendRAlum avan pEyanendRAlum
in Abheri sung by NC Vasnthakokilam and more recently by
Sudha Raghunathan
Thanks
raja
It is Andavan Pichchai.
Tamil Devotional Song:
Yadum maiee Nindrai, Iraiva Engum maiee Nindrai...
Can anyone shed some light regarding this song more specifically:
1. Whether it is a classical or cinematic song?
2. Where do I get the entire song? If the song is embedded in a music album, let me know the name and availability.
3. If there is a weblink to this song, please share.
You might have probably heard the famous rendering of Kanjadalayathakshi by MS. She has sung a slokam before singing this song:
Shive shringarartha etc
Would anyone help me to get the lyrics/script of this slokam or the source for me to look at and also the meaning?
Thanks
raja
It is the 51st shlOka from Adi sankarA's soundarya lahari describing 8 moods or expressions of pArvatI:
shivE shrungArArdrA (love when she sees shivA); tad itara janE kutsana parA (contempt at other men); sarOshAm gangAyAm (anger or jealousy at ganga); girisha charitE vismayavatI (wonder at the deeds of shivA); harAhibhyO bhItA (fear at the sight of the serpents that adorn shivA as garlands); sarasiruha sowbhAgya jananI (valour - hinted at by the reference to the red-tinged lotus like eyes); sakhI sushmErA (palyfulness with her sakhI's); tey mayi jananI drushtih sakarunayA (and compassion when the divine mother looks at her ardent devotee).
Hope this helps.

Thanks for presenting a Good Keerthana-Saahithya of Aarabhi Raga.... ...."Sree Saraswathi Namoasthuthae...".
But I am sorry to point out that according to what I have been taught as also heard from leading musicians too.. since the past more than 60 years....
... TWO WORDS need correction as below.
N.B : My Tamil-English Transliteration-Style is the Sanga- Tamil-Style (Based on Tamil-Syllables... as we pronounce... unlike all other Styles which are Letter-based)
---------------------
shrI sarasvati namOstutE.Raga: Arabhi.Tala: rUpakam
// P: shrI sarasvati namOstutE. varadE. paradEvatE shrIpati gaurIpati guruguha vinutE vidhiyuvatE //
So far my Knowledge goes there is NO word.. “Varadhae”. Here.
//C: vAsanA traya vivarjita varamuni….” bhAvita”…. mUrttE vAsavAdyakhila nirjara//
Instead of the word ...”bhaavitha”.... It must be . “Vandhitha”
-----------------------
Am I wrong ?
Here bis the version that is in Vinai Sundaram Iyer's book. It is also the same in Rangaramanuja Iyengar's book Kritimanimalai.

Hi
I am Saritha.New to this site.Joined today only.
Felt very happy for the discussions here.
I was also taught the same by my teacher as
shrI sarasvati. rAgA: Arabhi. tALA: rUpaka.
P: shrI sarasvati namOstutE (varadE) paradEvatE shrIpati gaurIpati guruguha vinutE vidhiyuvatE
C: vAsanAtraya vivarjita varamuni bhAvita mUrtE vAsavAdyakhila
nirjara vara vitaraNa bahukIrtE dharahAsa mukhAmburuhE adbhuta
caraNAmburuhE samsAra bhItyApahE sakala mantrAkSara guhE
Execept a small word added as "dharahAsa yuta mukhAmburuhE"
It is a wonderful krithi! :)
I agree with 'sarithasai"...
... that oneSupplementary word ... "DHARAHAASA-YUTHA"... in between, I too was taught.
Where did you hear this song? Is there a reference to it somewhere?

I heard the Song...Sung by someone Male Unknown... appears to be similar to TV Sankara-Narayanan... Disciple of Madurai Mani Iyer.
But after hearing a few lines...I could come to a conclusion.. that it cannot be that High Scholar Musician of the day....
... who will sing quite contrary to conventional swara-notations.
...even though the shape of the Raga remains unchanged even after his own twisting.
On getting the LIVE-DARSANA of Venkateswara Swamy varu... at His Sannidhi...
...Swami Thyagaraja being an Aasu-Kavi, sang this Keerthana extempore...
... rapt with high emotional spirit of ECSTACY... and in a spirit of Elation.
...Meaning "Oh Lord Venkatesa...to have your Real-darshana I need Ten-Thousand Eyes"...etc. etc.
Are we able to get that True-Spirit... in this Sluggish singing?
Dear Sister Ms. Gayathri... Will you please try to get anything else better?...
... Sung by anybody... CORRECTLY.... and TOLERABLY...if not appreciably.
... alongwith the Song from Cine-MEERA...Janaardhana Jagannaatha... .. by M.S.Subbalakshmi.
However...I reiterate my thanks to you for your sincerety and affection.
With Best Wishes,
Affectionately,
