Music Review: Kadal
And the magicians are back! Music genius A.R. Rahman gives his best for a Mani Ratnam and Kadal is nothing less than a musical treat. The duo has once again taken Tamil film music to the next level. Here we take a look...
The album begins with the soft and serene 'Chitirai Neela' rendered in the soulful voice of Vijay Yesudas. Vairamuthu's magical words have further uprised the emotions. This song is about a new born baby's cry... Then comes the gospel-styled 'Adiye' sung by Sid Sriram. Madhan Karky's lyrics are soulful and Rahman gives a new touch to this choir like track. Abhay Jodhpurkar and Harini have rendered the soft haunting melody 'Moongil Thottam' with supreme confidence while the man himself, Rahman, has sung the mond blowing 'Elay Keechan' which takes music to next level. Nobody expect Rahamn could think of adding such elegance to this country styled fishermen track.
And finally here we have the whimsical 'Nenjukkule' sung by A.R. Rahman and Shakthisree Gopalan. This song, which was premiered at the MTV Unplugged, is already a viral hit. It is pure magic indeed. Rahman has roped in Chennai Chorale for the choir-ish 'Anbin Vaasale' crooned by Haricharan. The album ends with the refreshing 'Magudi Magudi' in the electrifying voices of Aaryan Dinesh, Chinmayee and Tanvi Shah.
Mani Ratnam-Rahman never fails, and we agree that. This album is a pure magic.
