ஜூலை 1, 1961ல் வெளிவந்து 50 ஆண்டுகளில் அடியெடுத்து வைத்திருக்கும் நடிகர் திலகத்தின் ஸ்ரீவள்ளி திரைப்படத்தின் ஆயுளே நடிகர் விஜயகுமாரின் திரையுலக ஆயுள் ஆகும். அப்படத்தில் அவர் பாலமுருகனாக நடித்து திரையுலகில் நுழைந்தார். அதன்பின் கதாநாயகனாக அறிமுகமாகி பின்னர் பல்வேறு பாத்திரங்களில் தன் திறமையை நிரூபித்து இன்று வெற்றிகரமாக தனது 50வது ஆண்டில் நுழைந்திருக்கிறார்.

Dear friends
Watched the DVD of Ooty Varai Uravu again yesterday. wow, what a light hearted movie enacted to perfection by NT. I along with my family enjoyed the movie to the full.The dress, walking style and dialogue delivery by NT were all ahead of times and it is a lesson for today's actors.
The cigarette smoking style in standing posture in the song "Thedinen vanthathu" is simply out of the world and no words to describe the same.
All songs in this movie are gems and i would rather say that another hero of this movie behind the screen is Mellisai Mamannar MSV. Wonder will we ever get a such a combination of actor and MD anywhere else in the world!!!
There was an interesting piece of info shared by Chitralayaa Gopu recently in an interview about this movie.Though Christened as "Ooty varai Uravu" all the ooty scenes in this movie was shot entirely in Yercaud as there was a heavy fog for continous 10 days and shooting could not be done. Because of this delay NT's other shooting commitments were on the verge of getting delayed. So Sridhar suggested to NT about Yercaud and NT readily agreed to the same and even gave fresh dates to carry out the shooting inspite of his hectic schedule.

Good to see you back with a short and sweet note on Ooty Varai Uravu. A rollicking entertainer on any day and MSV was on a song.
On a side note whenever OVU is mentioned my mind would race to Iru Malargal, the film that got released on the same Deepavali day of Nov 1st, 1967. It would require great guts to release a movie along with OVU and when the second movie also has the same hero, add to it an emotional story as the film's backdrop, you are walking on knife edge. But ACT showed that rare courage and congrats to him for that and kudos to our fans and the general public for making both the films run for 100 days.

You have said interesting point about OVU and Iru Malargal. Interesting point is OVU is a colour film and IM is a black and white. How was response for colour and B/W films? I believe fans and common audience should have be preferred to watch OVU because of colour film?
I think OVU released in Central or Chinthamani and IM in Devi in Madurai?

Great News, Ragavendran sir....., I think NT fans in chennai are having thier time of thier lives after a long time, as one super hit after another of our Thalaivar is being released continously for the pas 3 or 4 months.

I heard that NT's "Sarithira Nayagan" was produced by NTR. Is that true?. Kindly give more details, if possible.It had a melodious number of Mellisai Mannar sung by Yesudoss.
