What raga is the song 'Malare pesu mouna mozhi' from geetanjali?
Mohanam initially came to my mind, but after listening for a couple times it does n't sound like mohanam.
srini, could be vaasanthi - but touches G2 and N1 as well. Vaasanthi is | S R2 G3 P D1 S | S D1 P G3 R2 S (D1 counterpart of Mohanam!)....Nallavarkellam Satchigal Rendu from Thyagam is the same raaga...
Other such numbers that touch N1 while mostly playing vaasanthi are...
Adho Mega Oorvalam Eeramana Rojave (touches N1)
Paadu Nilave Udhaya Geetham (touches N1)
Paruvamae Pudhiya Paadal Nenjathai Killadhae (touches N1)
Vaa Vaa Vasandhame Pudhu Kavidhai (touches N1)
Oh ok. The song is 'eerie' in places, which mohanam is not and that's why i thought it may not be mohanam.
Now, the D1 explains why it sounds eerie.
Never heard of Vaasanthi!! Thanks much for the info!
Thanks a lot vel on sharing a treasure information on vaasanthi raagam and its songs. Me too never heard any krithis in this raagam.
srini and V_S....even Deva has done a vaasanthi....it is mookuthi muthazhagu moonam pira kannazhagu from the film kannu pada pogudhaiyya - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5u...-y-y-yyy_music
even rehman has done 'kurukku siruthavalae' in this raga...
vaa vaa vasanthamae by IR is the most haunting one for me, personally! What a singing by Malaysia Vasu
