app_eng,
My good luck I have heard this song earlier and my bad with the wordings.
Listening to 'India 24hrs' the last couple of days. Amazing how Raja is able to bring in so much of emotion into the instrumental pieces.

Unforgettable title song.
Prashanth, avtar maathunga..
:?:
Anyways,
A song for today.
Suga Raagame - Kanni Rasi
Couldn't find the video, so I uploaded it myself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SajaMDxeAsM
Melody to die for. Instrumentation is divine. Love the choice of raagam.
But whenever you sit back to let it wash over you (particularly when VJ is singing)... MV's imitation singing for janagaraj starts up again :? (yes, I know it's in the context of the film)
What I wouldn't do for a rendition without the goofy bits (same with picturization, for that matter)...
Still a gem.
(Minus 5 points for obvious mridangam faking in the video.)
Thanks for the youtube and the definition for the song.

Yesterday a friend on twitter reminded me of the 'Katha Thudarunnu' song, "aaro paadunnu doori". Yesterday night was spent listening to this song. What a lovely melody. Sathyan somehow is able to get some superb numbers from Raja. Every film of his has one such classic ('Innate Chinta Vishayam' is probably an exception. No such classic in that movie, though songs are nice.) All other movies have such gems. Writing this I am reminded of the lovely 'Bhagyadevata' songs. Now to go and listen to them :)
Sun Music which had been screen only Sivaji and MGR song for months now, is screening Rajni and Kamal songs today. So lot of Raja goodness happening. 'kanna vaa' from 'Velaikaran' on. Before this was 'raathiyil pootirukkum' and 'vizhiyil kadhai ezhudhum'. I am sure some more lovely songs will make it.
Muthmma muthamma - Madhu Balakrishanan and Reeta

Tum Bhi Dhundhana Main Bhi Dhundunga - Hariharan
Amazing song - must be one of the most underappreciated songs...Quote:

Madhu,
Which movie is that from?
Sunil,
Wonderful song, 'tum bhi doondna' It jolts you when you see the visuals associated with it as well. Unlike many other Raja songs, Hariharan voice suits this situation to a 'T'. Thanks for reminding of this song. Been a while since I heard this.

One song which particularly surprises me from the movie "Ayiram Nilave Vaa". Sometimes I wonder how he can come up with these kind of inexplicable tunes for an eerie situation like this.Mood creation at its best!
A wonderful composition, but I have heard a kannada version for this song, which was not as impressive as this one..

I like the Tamil version better than Kannada too :). No can better IR in the spooky songs genre. The instruments used and the orchestration to achieve the overall eerie effect is truly unique.Quote:

Did both IR & MD Rajendran score music for this movie? Was it more like how IR-MSV composed for Mella Thirandhadhu Kadhavu?
RM,
Wonderful song that. I have this CD and have heard it many times. That movie has quite a few great songs.
Sun Music is going ballistic on Raja right now. Heard the two classics, 'Germaniyin' and 'Hey Paadal Onru'. Wonderful. Today for sure can't sleep before midnight till Sun Music shifts its focus to the new songs.
 was listening to whole album while doing some work and only took notice when this song came on.Quote:

Fantabulous song! I think it's from Oru Odai Nathiyaagirathu.Quote:

Are there any more Reetigowlai from Raja, please share, I love this raagam and the way Raja used it is phenomenal.
rajkumarc,
MD rajendran has penned the lyrics and music by raja himself,to the best of my knowledge. I don't think Rajendran is a composer.
