WILL RAJINI JOIN ANNA HAZARE?
What is the difference between Rajinikanth and most of the other Indian superstars? While many believe in taking people and their adulation for granted, Rajini believes in doing something in return.
Late evening on June 15, the Superstar was discharged from the hospital in Singapore, where he was undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment. His son-in-law, Dhanush, promptly put up the news on a social networking site.
Rajini is not expected to be back in India for another 45 days at least and is meant to head to an undisclosed location for recuperation because he has to be kept in an infection-free zone.
One hears that one of the foremost things that the Superstar is obsessed with is the fact that he would reportedly like to pledge his support to social activist Anna Hazare. Says a source, “Rajini sir is never vocal or forthcoming about his feelings on any subject. However, Anna’s fight against corruption seems to have captured his imagination. Even through his illness in Singapore, the Superstar had been quietly following Anna’s Jan Lokpal Bill progress. He is actually a staunch Anna fan.’’
Insiders say that by pledging support to Anna’s fight against corruption, Rajini may in a way be giving something back to his fans and society at large.
A DRIVE AGAINST BRIBE
Veteran social activist 72-year-old Anna Hazare went on a hunger strike demanding enactment of a comprehensive Jan Lokpal Bill against corruption in April. There is no consensus on the matter. So, the Government and civil society will present separate Bills to the Cabinet. Meetings on June 20 and 21 should reveal the shape of things to come
