since Raaja Doesn't have much say in dubbing hope they dub the songs with Sjanaki, Chitra and SPB since its been ages we listened them rendering Raaja Songs in Thamizh. Last time I Heard SPB was in the dubbed Telugu version of Virumaandi titled 'Pothuraaju'. And his very last direct Thamizh song for raaja was In unreleased 'Dhanush' Hmmmm
From Gautham's sIFY chat
gnanasivam asks >> Your favourite director and music director in tamil?
gautham says >> Mani Ratnam & Ilayaraja
Im not really sure how many people noticed...
In VV, the scence where kamal breaks into Jyothika's room when she tries to commit suicide, they will show
ILAIARAAJA'S THIRUVASAGAM IN SYMPHONY CD LYING ON THE TABLE...
that shows his likes for Ilaiaraaja (its my opinion)
i went to a bollywood site after a long time just to see how hindi folks rate Shiva :)
To my consternation and chagrin, Shiva doesnt even appear in top 10.

I think the Hindi walas have put Shiva on the backburner once again. Since I dont have the patience to listen to other songs (especially those of Himesh and Sh-Eh-Loy due to my own predilection), can anyone who has listened to these throw light on these songs ? Are they on the melody side or Bhangra side ? Just want to find out why IR's music failed once again in Hindi ?
i dunno whether i should say this or not but i played shiva to my north indian frnds and told them it was a new ARR album.......they listened to it and told me it sounded very tamil-like......they thought they had dubbed some tamil song into Hindi song......they could not relate themselves with the songs.....then when i told them it was by IR and not by ARR, they told they expected that......Quote:

Not both!!
IR did not make the music thinking it would have mass appeal, the mass appeal was just a result by itself. IR caters to music on a self-satisfaction route (a nirvana kind-a of approach). Probably that is the reason the club-going/youth sections who promote the popularity kind of theme promote Himesh and others. There will be a whole lot debate why IR cannot appeal to youth and such. But i wish to say POPULAR music is not always the best in quality (in terms of probing into complexity, critiquing etc), when it came to IR, both fell together just as a matter of fact. Now everybody wants to elevate every other MD's to compare with IR which is kind-a sad, but each of the popular MD's now have some kind of talent that is getting recognized and they should use it before the flame dies down.
Dont know if this link (review of Shiva audio) has been posted here. Anyway, here it is:

There goes the punch line from the review in SmashHits
Veteran Ilaiyaraja's music is feast for music lovers in couple of numbers but will not have many takers from Bollywood music lovers.

How come? all the other northie friends like the songs and only MADDY's northie friends don't like it??Quote:
