VJ's crowning glory- Shankarabharanam
Dear All,
Spare some minutes for crossing language and Tamilnadu… over to Andhra….
In the 70s.. Sankara baranam was the most famous movie … spoken and discussed at length for several years… created by the great K.Vishwanathgaru…..
It was a path breaking movie… Incomparable … a complete movie from all angles….
Camera was … by the great .. Balu Mahendra….
Music by the great .. K.V.M.
SPB…it was a crowning glory to his great career….
Yes.. now I am going to mention about VJ’s participation in that movie…..
VJ got national award for the song…. Manasa sanchararay……..
I have no words to describe the depth of that song……so poetic … so mild… with all VJ flavour….
Brochevaarevaruraaaa……. Another classical song by VJ with SPB…… here we can see the VJ special when she sings the words… Seethapathay naaphai neeabhimaanamuleka….
The ultimate one was….. Dhorakuna ethuvanti seva……. It will VJ VJ VJ totally in this song….. She will rule like a colossus in the second part of the song…. And the whole theatre will be in tears when she sings the words……….. Mahaanubhaaavaaaa……in high pitch and then bring it down in low pitch , the same.. .Mahanubhaavaaa..
It will be great if somebody shares with us how the singers were chosen for the various songs in that movie.. Interestingly.. I could not find PS singing any song in that movie.
I sincerely feel that if we are not mentioning this movie… it will be injustice to one of the greatest singers of our times…… the one and only VJ….
VJ’s career took a peak in that movie…
VJ Songs/Discussions/Digressions

Your regard for VJ and her songs is laudatory. It is great to see you share your thoughts on some of VJs classics and forgotten solos with such unbridled enthusiasm. You are a true fan!
However, if you click on Page 1 of this discussion thread, you will notice that the appreciation of VJs songs at TFMpage started sometime in 1999. Since then, there has been a lot of quality sharing among DFers here. I urge you to take some time (two months leave might do it!) to go through the varied analyses in those pages (6 years of it!) to see how thoroughly VJs talent/singing/songs have been discussed by many well-informed and worthy posters. VJs songs in other languages besides tamizh have also been highlighted by the several discussants. I am certain that you will find it to be very rewarding. Please make the time for it!
