The difference between TMS and other singers par excellence like PBS and AMRaja or Jesudas and SPB :

While TMS renders a song number we forget TMS as his background voice brings forth the actor on the foreground : We were made to feel it was Sivjaji song or MGR song or Jai song or Ravi song or Nagesh song .... like that though his manly voice could not match that much for the softies like GG or SSR or Muthuraman ..... In other words the songs are recognised as actor's song rather than TMS song!! But be it AMRaja or PBS whomsoever may be in the foreground, the star coming to our minds is only GG. For SPB or Jesudas neither of these happen even though their melodious voices match Kamal or Rajini or MGR or Sivaji or even GG!! Their songs can be used for any actor.

Pandhayam (1967) : The story of two friends who by fate had to go with different paths of life and meet one day....This movie featured AVMRajan, almost a look alike of GG, with GG in the lead. They also had their union after some years in another movie 'Sakkaram' which had the most popular song 'Kaasedhaan Kadavulada' with AVMRajan.

Sudden Demise of SSR : Heartfelt Condolences

Next in the line of the triumvirate NT, GG and MGR, it was SSR who had given memorable performances in films like Aalayamani with NT, Vaanambaadi, Poompuhaar...../ He was about to be signed in VPKB but his committments to his own venture Sivagangaiseemai forced the producers to have the apt choice of GG to play Vellayathevan in VPKB. A talented actor with a gifted voice for a streamlined dialogue delivery in line with NT! On behalf of GG's thread, Our heartfelt condolences for his sudden demise. May the soul rest in peace.

Now being telecast : In SunLife channel/Unakkaaga Naan starring NT with GG in the pivotal role essayed by Richard Burton in Beckett and Rajesh Khanna in Namak Haraam!

Of course, compared to Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh at that time, both NT and GG were visibly getting aged but the spark in their acting remained solid as the roles were heavy that can be enacted only by established stars like NT and GG at that time. NT knew pretty well that as per the story line, GG would consume more screen space than him and GG proved his mettle, in some scenes particularly the Nagesh death scene and song, and when getting beaten by the angry mob, better than Rajesh Khanna. NT in his different getup of the rich man did justice on his own individuality without copying Amitabh Bachchan in the Hindi version or Peter O' Toole in the hollywood version. Nagesh was very subtle in his part. A movie that could have been made at that time of Beckett itself rather than following Namak Haraam! A movie critically acclaimed for both thespians' acting but a bit disappointment at box office!
