Very sad to live on to see an insensitive generation that takes it easy!!! I grew up pampered by utmost veneration to womanhood- no ogling, teasing, ragging can escape -first of none dared to venture at such 'chivalrous' acts- with mere 'thittu'. In a public bus, say for example, even before a lecherous boy/man can attempt at some body contact with the lady near him he is sure to have his foot'toes crushed by the silent body-guard the lady always has- a brother, father or husband. It has to be agreed today's women do not have the luck of such body-guards accompanying them everywhere. Practically impossible. We have now enterprising globe-trotting young women who are left to fend for themselves. The tragedy is instead of viewing male advances as odious our ladies are learning to enjoy them, welcome them!!! Increase in adultery, pre-marital sex, living together arrangements. one-night or more night stands, dating for as long as the partner is 'ineresting', blatant approval of all these in public forums, media and ultimately in the supreme court of a proud nation of venerable past.... :sigh2: ...yes, we are sinking into bestial depths of pure carnal sensitivity atropied from intelligent, wise, healthy discrimination.

May be I'm getting very old but not yet touched the stage of senility, hopefully! I see the trend clearly! And with a sinking heart! (My 2 eyes, 2 ears, my understanding faculty still function with reasonable correctness.) I also see the rock of sturdy womanhood continuing with unassuming dignity! In the present scenario a voice of reason and ashamed womanhood sounding odious is no surprise to me!!!

I aint here to talk about how I am for or against the law intervening in moral values.

my 2 cents are for "women enjoying the advances" bit .


Most of us cant dismiss the fact that, in general ptc buses, lusty middle aged spineless men, who adorn themselves with religious symbols to look like a friendly neighbour resort to silent SEXUAL HARASSMENTS. The girls who are targetted are pre teens, or early teens, who are TOO SCARED to open out and shout or dont even know if something wrong is happening.

Now, to my knowledge MOST LADIES do view a stranger's advance as filthy and distasteful. IF the man in question is a known acquaintance, friend, or colleague whom she has mutual interst ONLY THEN a woman enjoys them (provided again the feelings are mutual otherwise again I am sure no woman enjoys advances from any person whom she is not interested in) We are talking about harassment here, NOT flirtacious or casual advance by someone a woman may be intersted in.

Mrs.PP, I see that the movement away from traditional gender roles disturbs you. That is understandable, perhaps down the years I too will feel quite shaken when things change from how I have known them all along - say my son decides to marry a robot ! :lol2:

But to say women who have moved on to new gender render roles enjoy sexual harassment (that is the expression to use; the word eve-teasing trivializes the issue) is offensive.

Well said. That is their fundamental right.
Adultery/Divorce etc are different issues which shouldnt be confused with living-together.

Live and let live. As long as nobody gets hurt & human rights not violated, then it's cool. Peace :D

It is for the purposes of property rights (inheritance) that there is a need for law to bothers to recognize marriage. But even there I don't get why law should be concerned with adultery, except for accepting it as reasonable grounds for divorce. Adultery as a punishable offence beats me.
