Booked for the 20th function - same story. No seat numbers in online booking ;)
I doubt if this will have more than 50% occupancy, considering that except yahoogroups, mayyam, facebook groups nobody knows this :(

IIRC, that's what some people here said about the HTNI concert as well. But in reality, the concert was a sell-out. I met a dude who'd (also) come from B'lore assuming he'd get a ticket, but was left stranded outside.
Live in CONCLAVE !!!???
appo concert unda illaiyaa? only speech and conversations?
skv, thanks for posting the pics... geththu!.
KV-> But look at the kind of promotions that happened and look at the perception , material. HTNI started 3-4 weeks before atleast, with effective social medium coverage & spread, newspaper advertising mediums . His children, whole family too supported in it their Social medium. A week before we has videos, speech by eminent people across film industry also . Added to that , it was HTNI which was known to everyone.
For this , I see a question yesterday in yahoogroups asking what this is . Till now, we don't know what this show is about , almost zero social medium coverage , zero newsprint coverage, no support from his children .What is the material ? Talks ? Talks with concert / technical , Non technical ? Who can enjoy and who cannot enjoy ?? If Raaja starts talking about all the music jargons , even i will find my way to exit - it is simply not my stuff that i can understand . Lets see . I booked my tickets and hope it comes out well.:)
+1 Ramki... am still in "artham purinjA innum nanna irukkum" mode...
my guess: this will be some kind of an interactive workshop ! it happens often in music schools here in the US - i recall attending one such workshop by Philip Glass !! he explained in detail and also context-wise, the use of the 'ostinato' in his scores and how they were received well after initial criticism!!
IMO, if IR does something like that, which is what i think it is likely to be, then thats the way to go!
think abt it this way - there are dozens of wannabe composers and aspiring musicians who might have the talent to score, but just lack guidance / direction - that includes IR's children!
this will be a great oppportunity for them to get some insight into the workings of the mind of a genius like IR!
and learn from the same! remember IR learnt it the hard way working under / with yesteryear composers!
now he is bringing all of that experience onstage in an interactive atmosphere!
isnt that something to be cherished ??
for a budding composer, this would be a dream come true
what irritates me though is the quality of celebrities attending this event - Vikram, Ajith ?? what do these guys know abt music ?? i would have been happier, if it had a galaxy of technicians from the sound, sound mixing departments, an invited faculty member from the Univ of South California's Movie and Music department, composers like Vishal Bharadwaj, Shantanu Moitra, who could all benefit from this experience !!
also this is a perfect occasion for even upcoming directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters to ask and learn as to how a composer looks at a given script, situation, a scene, its lighting etc and scores the music !!
comeon guys, if this workshop is anywhere close to how i have visualised, then it will be the equivalent of Kamal Hassan's script-writing workshop he held in IIT Chennai sometime back!
and IMHO, thats the way to go ! IR is mixing such events with full-fledged concerts!
I have tons of questions prepared and to be asked - all hardcore music-related - how does the use of silence enhance a BGM score ? how does IR himself think he has changed the BGM scene from 1976 to now ? how does he choose a certain motif for a certain situation ? how does he integrate his score seamlessly with a script until they become inseparable ? does IR listen to contemporary western classical music (thats different from european classical music dating back centuries ago) - since i wont be there, maybe some of you can ask similar questions !
I once watched Phil Collins speak abt the use of D Minor (or maybe something else i cud be wrong) chord that normally used in a church choir, but when used in a pop context, it gives the music a subtle poignant effect!
I would expect ppl to ask IR questions that would bring out such illuminatory answers
I spoke to the manager of raaja sir and he does not know any detail regarding the 20th aug 2012 concert. He has asked me to talk to Mr. Diamond babu.
Why has the information been held back? What is the show about?
The website first said it was symphony but now they its a conclave and the minimum ticket is INR 1000 :)
appdiye USayum konjam aasirvadhikka venum?
chicagola concertnna adiyen aajar aaiduven
It is all about organising.
people in the USA. You people get together and let me know if you want specific concerts in your city/area. I am not well versed with the MAP of USA. So select 3 major cities/areas and let me know and i will have the information conveyed.
Also i need the contact information of one person who will take in charge of that area's concert. I am just going to try this.
