Kamala Theatre Owner Valliyappan about Vijay in Raj Tv :
We were initially not sure about Pooveunakaga's run in our theater since our theater had big capacity and also as vijay was not a big star then. But it ran for 225 days and proved a big success.
I'm a vijay fan himself and never had any loss in releasing his films. The only risk factor we feel in while releasing vijay film is the extreme celebrations of his fans, sometime while they do Milk Abisekam they may slip down and may have a risk of their lives,we feel.
Vijay has a huge fanbase which ensurs all his film's tickets soldout in no time on advance booking. For an instance, one time the tickets for 2 shows sold out within 13mins of opening adv booking.
Big actors have opening and where vijay lies special is , the longevity. His films can sustain for a long run. And there wont be much drop in longer run, and had always maintained 70-80% attendance in longer run!
My father always says Vijay is Engal veetu Pillai and we must be thankful for actor like him who fetch us huge profits with every film! I wish him a very happy birthday and be more successful ahead.
Cedy bro , we must thank you only for the great idea you provided of bringing back the old memories. :)
The man can pass off for 30. Good 10-15 years ahead of him. Still waiting for Mani Ratnam - Vijay film.
Thanks to Cedy for the wonderful initiative. Just when I thought this birthday will pass on as a regular one, he came up with this idea of reliving some wonderful memories from the glorious career of Vijay. And boy!! How great a day it has turned out to be!!! Thanks again.
Special thanks to Kumaran, who was posting at a rapid speed. Everytime I clicked the F5 button, I could see a new post by him.

The ever youthful Vijay turns 40!!!
Ask a film buff to list the commercial flicks which can be watched by everyone at any given point of time. The list will include, 'Ghillie' or 'Thuppakki' or 'Nanban' or all the three.
No marks to guess the common factor between three most celebrated commercial flicks of the recent years. With these films, 'Ilayathalabathi' Vijay who celebrates his birthday today (June 22) proved that he is not only the darling of masses but also capable grabbing the hearts of those bracketed as elite audience. With a career spanning more than two decades Vijay has also given the best of mass films like 'Thirumalai' 'Thirupachi', 'Pokkiri' 'Sivakasi' and 'Jilla'
Vijay is unarguably the most celebrated stars of the recent times and he is holding the box office king status for more than a decade now. But the entry and the journey to the coveted position he reigns in today was not easy.
Being the son of a successful filmmaker S.A.Chandrasekar, does not mean easy ticket to hero roles for Vijay. He has acted in master roles and supporting roles before becoming a lead hero. Vijay had to struggle a lot during his initial stages to carve a niche for himself as an actor. It required two decades of phenomenal patience, sheer hard work, sincerity to the profession and unending commitment to exceed expectations of the audience, for the actor to place himself in the league of yesteryear super star MGR and current Superstar Rajinikanth.
Vijay's impressive dancing skills, dialogue delivery and effective portrayal of stunt sequences have made him different from any other actor who has been successful in commercial films. Also the young looks and physique he has been maintaining for many years have been a matter of wonder for many. A stranger to Tamil films may not believe that he turns 40 tomorrow. When he acted as an Engineering College student in 'Nanban' that released in 2012 no one questioned the suitability of his looks for the character.
For a person with such a start status and fan following, Vijay is extremely simple and known to be a man of few words. As a side effect of his activities and social welfare measures conducted through his thousands of fan clubs, Vijay has been unnecessarily dragged into many controversies but the actor remained calm and composed and taught to others that silence is the best way to silence the backbiters and those planning to thwart another person's development.
Right from the day of announcement, Vijay films will create a buzz. 'Kaththi' the actor's 57th film which is currently in the making has generated enormous buzz for he has paired up with A.R.Murugadoss, the director of 'Thuppakki', the blockbuster of 2012. Vijay fans will have extra reason to celebrate this birthday of their matinee idol since the highly anticipated first look of 'Kaththi' has been unveiled today.
We at Indiaglitz extend our hearty birthday wishes and lot more success in the acting career of the most adored stars of the current generation.
