Philosophical ranting we’re kinda sure to get, but I think the direction in which the session will head will mainly depend on the kind of questions that are asked. Some people appear to be hell bent on asking him some questions ad nauseum despite knowing that the chances of getting ‘the response they want’ are very slim. And if you observe, his ‘philosophical’ responses to certain questions have been more or less consistent. This implies that it’s such questions that need to be avoided or asked differently. We need to understand that by repeating the same questions, we’re just repeating our ‘mistakes’. If you really can’t move ahead in life without a proper answer from raja to your long standing question, try and be more articulate or maybe put it across in a different perspective.
Nail-on-the-blackboard questions:
- Who is your favorite music director among the current lot? (Oh, pity that itch you got there mate; try itch-guard.)
- Who do you think is your true musical heir? (For what hair should he answer that? Is there anyone who YOU think is really carrying ahead his legacy? Seriously?)
- Which is your favorite ragam? (Is that your best shot at posing a question?)
- Your next film is touted as your ‘comeback vehicle’. What are your comments on this? (Let’s for once say it is; so what now? You gonna throw a rave party huh?)
- Why are you using musicians from abroad? Don’t you think that’s disrespecting the local talent here? (Who are you to judge what talent is? Why should he not use whoever he wishes to? Who are you to question that? Maamana machchaana?)
- Many directors who were seen as ‘raaja loyalists’ have moved away from you. Why do you think this has happened? (Ah! The cave sage is here! How was is it living under a rock all these years?)
- Why do you think tune should be given preference over lyrics? Don’t you see this as the main reason for the deterioration in quality of lyrics over the years? (Ever heard of something called poetry, dude? Why don’t you try Kamban or Wordsworth instead?)
We might be speculating here, but this appears to be a chance of a lifetime. If we are to repeat the typical ‘provoke - be snubbed - cry’ cycle, we’d be creating fodder for the coming generations to ROTFL/LMFAO about. Be careful… naa ennaya chonnen!
Questions pertaining to BSO Symphony release, BGM tracks, Raaja.com et al are quite valid but will need to be done in a needle-in-a-banana mode. Put your thinking caps on, fellers.

not only did I attend, I also met and spoke to Mr.Glass backstage in general abt his scores for 'the illusionist' and a few other films - and of course spoke to him abt IR ! he was intrigued and asked if IR had a website and the URL! - naan nondhu poittaen, since raaja.com had become defunct by then (2007-2008) - and he was in a hurry to leave!
these are the setbacks we face when it comes to speaking abt IR - he doesnt even have a functioning website !
