First time on video or in every sense? This was a regular on radio those days...
Yes, Uma Ramanan...the director of the movie was camera man Nivas (who did camera for the first 5 movies of BR & directed kallukkuL eeram under BR's mERpArvai)...

First time listening also  I have O Nenjame in one of my playlists...
Nerd - Checkout other songs in Enakkaaga Kaathiru. All are lovely, especially the one sung by IR "Ooty Malai Kaatile". Pani Mazhai Vizhum by Deepan and SPS is also a beauty. Absolutely stunning and unique imagery painted in all the songs in this album.

Glad, you are visiting ENAKKAGA KATHIRU from early 80s, from my school years.
Nostalgic early Ilayaraja! Raja delivers hillside flute orchestration for the female solo.
Uma's female solo you have mentioned is rag (hindustani-megh/carnatic-madhyamavathi)
Wanna alaap of the rag, indulge THULLI THULLI NEE PAADAMMA......Bala for Kamal.

nostalgic 80s ilayaraja!
Kavingar Vairamuthu with S.P.B & Janu for Ilayaraja!
yeah... again PANI MAZHAI VIZHUM.....IS BEAUTIFUL COMPOSITION, VAIRAMUTHU'S LYRICS GOOD TOO.
We are very blessed!:)
vinatha.
sampling over old CD pile in the car, came across "Madhu" a Jithan Ramesh starrer.
Probably only myself and hulkster have the CDs of this movie.
Was simply swept away by the following songs.
1. Indha ulagil naan
2. nilavai sutri
3. kaetkavillayaa
The interludes, preludes ellaame awesom tuning..
only complaint i have in "nilavai suttri" is the length of sangadhis was far too short -giving the feeling of "abruptness" or "broken".

The breathlessness one experiences trying to sing "indha ulagil" charanams and "kaetkavillaya" charanams has to be sung to
be beleived.
Thanks rajkumarc/baroque for the details and recommendations :-)
Whenever I play the 'En Manavaanil' tape in my car, it remains there for days together. I don't know why but I like this whole album. Every song is enjoyable. I don't feel like forwarding any song and neither do I want to stop listening to this tape. This is surprising because it will be difficult to rate this album along with Raja's best, yet it gives me so much pleasure!!! 'enna solli' and 'unnai thedi' are examples of how modern songs should sound like!! If Raja gives something like this for NEVP I will be fully satisfied!!! :D

Saw some scenes of Nizhalgal in TV. The BGMS for (initial scenes) Nizhalgal ravi and his lover is superb and it reminds me A.R.Rahman's sugam sugam song prelude. Anybody in same boat?
