Thanks KV for the 'theoretical' clarification. MSV is chromatic-la pugundhu vilayaduvaar. 'chandrodhayam' another good example.

What raga is Isaiyarasi ennalum from Thai Moogambikai (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeW2okhe9lw). Is it vasantha Bharavi??
Its such a mesmerizing song. Pragathi's rendering of this song on Airtel super singer was equally mesmerizing.
Srini,
isaiyarasi is based on ragam "Sallapam".
Happened to see manathodu mano on jaya tv yesterday. The singer who was the guest sang a song 'yaar yen mel anbu kondar'. He said the song Is from an album by ilayaraja dedicated to ramana maharishi. Does some know the name of the album?
Can someone please tell me what is the raga of the PBS-PS song 'paal vaNNam paruvam kanDu' from the MGR-BSD film 'Pasam'?

Very interesting usage of Revati to bring out a sensuous feeling. Note also the vocal counterpoints in the charanams..
Please,
Raaga for :
Dhesayum Ezhandheney from Jigarthanda
Yamunai Atrilay from Thalapathi
Can I post questions on instruments here or is there any other seperate thread ?
yamunai aatrile is in Kalyani/Yaman.
I think there's a BGM or instrumentals thread (pls search), you can post there.
Apart from the Raga part, I would like to know the mood and atmosphere of this period. Did these 2 compositions break the stereo typed films music of that period (just like the music we currently have and some MDs do try to break it) ? How did the music fans and fans of these 2 artists respond/react to these 2 songs, as having heard most of the compositions of MSV (& Ramamurthy), I always felt that these 2 songs were distinct and unique even now amoung my generation songs.
Aasaiyum En Nesamum from Kulebagavali [I have read that there is a hindi version of this song, can't find it though, a link to hear it is appreciated)
