There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Roger is the best tennis player in the history, because of the well rounded game that he possess. Yes he seems to have a problem against Nadal, which to me is more mental than anything else.
I think the desperation to get past Pete's record also might be catching up on him. So far he has had an ordinary year 2008 (compared to his dream years of 04, 05, 06 & 07).
With 3 gone, Roger would be more focussed to get the last (US Open) major of the year.

A very late update

Both players won million hearts on that magical day at Wimbledon.
Fed :notworthy: what a sportsman he is! what grace d what sportmanship despite defeat! despite his face showing up his massive disappointment.....he was still gracious!!! what a player!!!!
Rafa! :notworthy: can't but admire his stunning talent!!! a maturity that surpasses his age....d a heart that is bigger than mount Everest, this young boy is quite a revelation! and the respect he shows for Fed is quite amazing!! a true champion.....
it is really quite rare in sports to see two champions d rivals sharing the highest respect for each other....hope this rivalry takes tennis to even bigger heights in the future....d for the sake of tennis hope d pray Fed finds a way to tackle Rafa!

Roger Federer - Long Interview Wimbledon 2008
-
Feddy's days at top is numbered. With his exit in 3rd round @ Cincinati Masters followed by the first round exit last week (@ Roger's Masters) Nadal is all set to take over the mantle (No. 1) by the end of this week (provided Nadal advances to Final of Cinci Masters).
How quickly things have changed for Feddy. His dream to get past 14 GS titles looks little far now.
Hope he gets out of this slump before he loses his No. 2 position also to Novak (who knows, he could with the way he is losing off late).
-
Nadal will be new No.1 for sure
-
feddy again loses in cincinnati without losing his serve.. it will be a surprise even for him. If Nadal wins the event, he becomes the new No1. interesting days ahead.
-
he will be back to his best.
-
that will be great for Tennis and we can see scintillating play when these two play. :D
