Many thanks for the replies. I was the source of the confusion - I thought the solo was by LRE - I merged it with Aanandha Thadavmo (another KB / JP collaboration.) The 47 Naatkal solo is by VJ, and it is Ival Unnai. Nice to be able to rely on you all to sort my memory mix-ups!

And, I agree : State Bank Krishnan has a great style, and his rendition of those slokas in Aaththoram Kodiveedu is spotlessly individual.

I haven't heard Ival Unnai in many, many years. Ditto for Ithu Unthan Veettukili Thaan. Nice to be amidst fellow obscurists?

I have a vague feeling that the "fishy" song was sung by VJ...and, trust me, the song does exist!

The other duet I was asking about is from Avanthaan Manithan, but I don't have the song file :-(
