'அறம் காப்பவர்களே அந்தணர்கள்' என்ற கருத்தை, மஹாபாரதம், பதினெண்புராணங்கள், மனுதர்மம், வேதங்கள் போன்ற நூல்கள் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளன. அந்தணனுக்கு ஆறுவகையான அறங்கள் அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. வேதம் ஓதுதல், வேதம் பயில்வித்தில், யாகம் செய்தல், யாகம் செய்வித்தல், தானம் கொடுத்தல் தானம் வாங்குதல் என்பதே அவை. இத்தர்மங்கள் தழைத்திருக்கும் நாடு சுபீட்ஷம் பெற்றிருக்கும் என்பது சான்றோர் வாக்கு. இதை வலியுறுத்தும் குறள் ஒன்றும் உள்ளது. "ராஜா தர்மத்தை மறந்திருக்கும் நாட்டில் பசுக்கள் பால் கறப்பதில்லை, அங்கு அந்தணர் அறம் மறப்பர்." என்று குறளின் உரை கூறுகிறது. இந்த ஆறு அறங்கள் உலகை நல்வழியில் காக்க ஏதுவாய் அமைகிறது. இதனை முன்னிறுத்திப் பார்த்தால், அறம் மறந்த பூவுலகின் நிலைமை எந்த இலக்கை நோக்கி சென்று கொண்டிருக்கிறது என நமக்குப் புரியும்.

அஷோக்கிற்கு உமா 'யோக வாசிஷ்டம்' என்ற புத்தகத்தை பரிசாக அளிக்கிறாள். அந்த புத்தகத்தை பார்த்த (அதை உணர்ந்த) மாத்திரம், வசிஷ்டனே காரணப்பிறப்பாக பிறந்துள்ளதால் அவனுள் பல exalted experiences. பல யுகங்களைக் கடந்த நிகழ்வுகளுக்கு இட்டுச்செல்லப்படுகிறான்.

ராமன் அவதாரமாக மண்ணில் அவதரித்த போது, அவர் துன்பங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார். ஒரு மனிதனாக எப்படியெல்லாம் உழன்று துன்பங்களை இன்பங்களை எதிர்கொள்ளாவேண்டுமோ அவ்வாறு வாழ்ந்தார். அப்படி வாழ்ந்ததால், துன்பத்திற்கும், குழப்பங்களுக்கும் மன உளைச்சல்களுக்கும் ஆளாக நேர்ந்தது. இறைவனின் அவதாரமே ஆயினும், அவர் அனுபவிக்க வெண்டிய கர்மாக்கள் இருந்தன. விஷ்ணுவாகிய அவருக்கு, சாபக்கடன் தீர அவ்வாறு உழல நேர்ந்தது.

முன்பொரு சமயம் சனத்குமாரர் என்ற ஞானியின் மேல் விஷ்ணு தவறாக கோபம் கொண்டிருந்தார். தவறற்ற தன் மேல் கோபம் கொண்டிருந்த விஷ்ணுவின் மேல் சனத்குமாரர் கோபம் கொள்ள, பூவுலகில் பிறக்குங்கால் நீ உழன்று சிக்கல்கள் சந்திக்க நேரிடும் என்று சபித்துவிடுகிறார். இதைத் தவிர பிருகு முனிவரின் மனைவியை விஷ்ணு கொல்ல நேர்ந்து விடுவதால், "மனைவியைப் பிரிந்து வருந்த நேரும்" என அவரும் சாபமிடுகிறார். நரசிம்ஹ அவதாரத்தை கண்ட பயத்தில் தேவதத்தனின் மனைவி இறந்துவிடுவதால், கோபமுற்ற தேவதத்தன் "மனைவியைப் பிறிந்து நீயும் அவதியுறுவாய்" என சபித்து விடுகிறார். இப்படி ஞானிகளும் மஹான்களும் உரைத்த சாபங்கள் பொய்த்துப் போகாது. அதனாலேயே ராமாவதாரத்தில் விஷ்ணு மிகுந்த மன உளைச்சலுக்கும், பிரிவுத் துயருக்கும் ஆளாக நேர்ந்தது.

உயர்ந்த செல்வச்செழிப்பில் புரண்டும் ராமன் மன அமைதியின்றி மிகுந்த குழப்பத்திற்கு ஆளாக நேர்ந்தது. நிலையற்ற இந்த செல்வமும், புகழும், வளமும், உயர்வும் என்ன நல்லன செய்துவிடுகிறது? பயனற்ற இந்த வாழ்வின் இலக்கு என்ன? எதை நோக்கு நாம் சென்று கொண்டிருக்கிறோம்? எதையோ நிலையான இன்பம் அதன் பின் தேடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறோம் என்று விரக்தி மேலிட அவர் பேசக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். ஏறக்குறைய ஒரு துறவியின் மனநிலையில் நின்று கேள்விகள் கேட்கிறான் ராமன். இப்பேற்பட்ட ஆன்மீகத் தேடல் விரக்தியின் வெளிப்பாடாக இருத்தல் கூடாது என்று ராமனின் சந்தேகங்களுக்கும், விளக்கங்கள் அளிக்கிறார் வசிஷ்டர். அந்நூல் "யோக வாசிஷ்டம்" என்ற பெயரில் விளங்கங்களாக தொகுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

இராமாயணத்தில் அனுபந்தமாக இதையும் சேர்த்திருக்கிறர் வால்மீகி.

What does சலிப்பற்ற முயற்சி mean exactly? To take the example of Sri Aurobindo, there comes a point in his life where he chooses spirituality instead of politics. It seems as though the choice is almost spiritually 'forced' upon him. By his very own efforts, he was poised to be one of India's greatest political leaders, but his path changes and he becomes a great spiritual leader instead. One could say he did practice Yoga intensely and this came as a result, but I wonder, was this a matter of his desire or choice ?

Just thinking out loud, was it from this logic that these customs were originated? Or are we trying to 'best-fit' some logic into the customs which originated somehow (even for apparently illogical reasons)? On several occasions, I find myself split between the two opinions, and do not know what is accurate.

"karuNai" I feel every word can take a meaning based who they are, and what are their rightful duties (here duties as per what they take up willingly) .

I suppose 'karunai' here can mean impartial treatment to all beings (whilst doing his duty) . Again depending on "who u are and where u stand" karunai can demand unquestionable love for all beings (typically I can think of jesus christ)

I remember "oozh" kuraL here. Destiny is pwoerful that it overpowers surroundigns and situations. What is ofcourse destiny but our own will and actions (though we are unaware of) . He chose yoga (unaware) and the link for this destiny or choice cannot be found in tht very birth.

Salipatra muyarchi... well, UNTIL ONE is desirious of an object or position AND if it is righteous (even if isn't he would turn towards it and its the path he chose) to keep trying without giving up. It holds good to understand the truth. Truth slips time and agian, and we need to climb again and again (i.e. if the person WANTS to be so)

When u decide the object or pleasure in question is NOT NEEDED for u peace, or uve gone beyond the pleasure found in objects or you have grown over that love, it can be forgotten.

If effort is not taken, and the desire persists, therez nothing lost, for u know the chain continues on.... that is why I supp it says

vendiyavatrai, vendiyavaaru muyandru kondirunthaal, YOU WOULD GET IT SOMETIME, SOMEDAY.
